Actually, they are still in financial crisis, that's why they can only optimize the existing funds to sign really good players, it's just that they really can't afford Nico William. And for now, one of their incomes is through player sales.
The latest news is the rumor about Andreas Christensen. Newcastle is rumored to be targeting this CB. Indeed, for now, Christensen's playing hours as a CB in Barcelona are not enough, losing to other defenders whose numbers are indeed many. The current market value is €40.00m.
Their crisis existed years ago and as a consequence of it, they had to let Messi go in his massive disappointment. They did not stop their bad spending habit and their financial crisis was not resolved or improved. Recent seasons after forcing Messi to leave their club, they continued to gamble with some star players and spend a lot of money for these players. This approach is risky and unsustainable which started to show this summer with their treatment on Gundogan.
Christensen and other players will face with unhappy ending like Gundogan and if I am Niko Williams, I will choose another club, not Barcelona. With many offers from big clubs, there is very little reasons for Niko Williams to choose Barcelona.
And Arsenal has completed Mikel Merino's transfer.
A fantastic signing at the late transfer window by Arsenal. Merino played double pivot with Zubimendi at Sociedad. I really like his physicality. He is a strong aerial presence. He is a relentless presser in attacking spaces, and his recent duel wins are insane. I think he complements the skillsets of Rice and Jorginho.
And with Merino's transfer, he balances out the 3 man midfield really nicely. This is a good transfer to improve our midfield depth. And we now have a full set of midfielders.
I really don't know too much about Merino and in Euro 2024, his contribution for Spain is limited too. He scored an important goal for Spain at very last minutes to help them beating Germany. It is a very important goal for his national team in Euro 2024 but beyond that, he did not has good contributions in other matches for Spain.
Arsenal spent a big money for this transfer while their biggest problem is at a striker position, not in midfield. I don't know this transfer is a good decision from Arsenal but I wish the player and Arsenal the best. I wish them to beat Manchester City in this season and win Premier League title after many years as well as breaking the domination of Manchester City in the league.
