So why is Frankie de Jong still not for sale? If you really want to fix the financial crisis, of course something has to be sacrificed. I think it is realistic to sell de Jong, who with his sale can provide some relief to improve the team by utilizing the sales proceeds to buy players who are desired but whose prices are still affordable. They want Nico Williams now because many rumors say that if they want to bring in Williams, Barcelona will receive FFP sanctions. Lewandowski is old, ideal to be replaced by a younger generation and suitable to be paired with Yamal. This is a consequence that Barcelona must take in order to avoid sanctions and increasingly messy finances. Totally improving finances is not a good solution, and Barcelona will not be able to do it other than improving little by little.
Not only De Jong, but they should sell like half of that team if you ask me. Hell, I would sell Yamal at this point as well, you may think I am crazy, but fixing their financial issues is more important than keeping a young star. Yamal could be the next messi, but if you can't fix your team, then you are not going to end up with anyone good around him.
We should be looking into fixing the financial situation first, and if they can do that then there won't be any issues at all. Sell Lewandowski if you can, sell raphinha if you can ,sell de jong, gavi, pedri, yamal, anyone that has any buyers, sell them. Spend a few years with just under 20 la masia kids if you have to, but fix that issue. If they do that, then they are going to realize that, rest will be much easier. Why? And how? Well simply because if they pay off all their debt, then they will not have any type of cap issues again, then they can restart, and get anyone they want and will not have any problems. At that point they could fix their squad issues, and start buying the best players in the world again. But until then, they are going to be just charged with issues many times over, and will not be able to fix any of this.
