I have something very big in the works that would mean LRM is very sustainable.  I can assure you of that.

You don't have to give details - perhaps you want to protect the sources or opportunity - but how big is very big?

Didn't he already say this was to do with free power in Iceland?

Is anyone here still buying BTC with fiat at this rate?

Not interested by the Neptune LabRat ?

Too many unknowns on time to market - especially since they held the line at the $3 per GH.

Never again will I be left in the position of wishing I had bought BTC instead of hardware. I'll leave the hardware purchasing and sustainability rubric associated with that to LR for now.

Preach it Brutha' BKM!

Hardware receipt dates and chasing difficulty both kill all likelihood of making a measured calculation of risk.
If you don't have large scale relationships with manufacturers, you have no business buying mining gear.
I believe that LRM is the closest thing I'll ever get to mining BTC again. I believe LRM has the contacts, the
relationships, and the buying power to stay ahead of the diff curve.

Do you think they'll mine more bitcoins than it would cost to buy them?   Serious question, I haven't done the research.  I'm guessing you have...

These aren't aimed toward your average individual... $10k buy in on 1 rig....

Is this code that it's aimed for... a mining farm?  Our mining farm?

The timing of LR's big surprise and the KNC announcement on the same day springs all sorts of conspiracy-mongering to mind.
But correlation does not mean causation.

It may have been one of the things I knew was going to happen today, but the news I got on the other front may be a bust.  Going to be another couple days to figure out what's going on, if we decide to go that route... I'm really hoping it works out though.

Hodl!
A 4x4 with slits cut in it every so often to slip the unused pcie tabs into and a USB hub are much cheaper and easier to manage than a whole load of MB's with a full comp setup for every 4 "BPUs".  But I can think of better ways to do it that aren't rigged so cheaply... Trust me... I can run every one I receive and then some...

Here, I've got a load of old dead motherboards, I'd be thinking of using those as mechanical support. Maybe even sawn up so there's just bunches of slots. Might need to use a "condom" over the PCIe pins on the monarchs though, just so nothing shorts. Likely I'm not going to have enough of them to worry about it... unless it's in a couple of years time when I pick them up for $50 a pop.

I never 100% confirmed with BFL what "place in line" I hold, but when asked at a bitcoin conference where I am in line by one of my bondholder's they stated I'd be first delivery (other than James Gibson I'm sure  Tongue)

I am going to get in contact with Dave at BFL and set up a meeting with them in the next couple weeks.  I'll be flying out there to check on progress and hope for the best.

Today may seem like a big day (hardware mining "officially" begins) but I'll tell you tomorrow is far more important.  Wish us luck.

Not sure if you have a solution for the backplane (MB) for the monarchs but it looks like ASROCK has come up with one http://www.asrock.com/news/index.asp?cat=News&ID=1765. Mind you - from what I recall you had a few GPU units running before!

I believe monarchs will be via USB as well if I recall correctly so no need for a backplane, just hang them and get a hub! Cheesy

Edit:

USB 2.0   -  Monarch cards can be used as an external computer peripheral and chained via USB hub.  In this mode the Bitcoin Mining Hardware can be controlled via an Android host or standard Linux or Windows computer.

I guess I should have read a little more but I basically make a habit of not going to the BFL website at all  Grin
