Basis of promotion of a different user? Having reports in that section that do not get handled, regularly. That's likely the main factor that theymos considers when selecting a staff member for local sections as he has stated several times when asked to promote someone in local sections that there aren't enough reports/reporters. You can have a local election, and when there's a increase in reports, and enough to justify a moderator theymos might look at it.

A moderator is a plus but it is not a must if your local community does their part in reporting spam and other rule breakers. The Croatian local does not have one either but we report anything that doesn't belong there and then someone cleans it out. Mostly though those are google translated ANNs and such.

Haha I remember that post, you made me crazy that day Smiley.

your post was a very detailed answer . If I remember correctly you became a mod few days later.  It is already a reference to how to become a mod
Congrats.

Recently many users from the French board made this thread, asking for a new moderator
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/theymos-you-dont-help-us-so-now-close-the-french-board-4600841

One of the users made a huge list of spammers, reported thousands of posts, and be able a moderator.

Do you report post often?

I suggest you to report thousands of posts. You will be noticed. (I read that in Bitcointalk banners Smiley)

Create a similar thread too, explaining the situation and putting all details about the problem (not about the moderator, but about the spammers or whatever)

Look at this for example

Good luck:)

Thank you for the reply, this is what I was looking for information-wise Smiley

I find your lack of faith in Bitcoin disturbing.

Haha I remember that post, you made me crazy that day Smiley.

@OP :
There is no secret, you have to report, report, report, and report (and be patient).
You have to show to Theymos that the situation in your section is no longer acceptable. But he wants figures.
Theymos asked us to report, so I started reporting. And five months later, I was promoted to mod. Rank is of little importance since I was a simple member at the moment.
My stats report : You have reported 465 posts with 99% accuracy (261 good, 3 bad, 201 unhandled)

why not be more direct/detailed?

who is the Local moderator that you think needs to be replaced ? and why ? and who are you proposing instead? and why ?

post those points in details , and you never know , theymos might make it happen and you wake up tomorrow with a different moderator.

I am as direct as I can be. My questions are exactly what they are. This is a recurring issue, from what I've seen in the forum. And I'm not saying it's frequent (lack of activity), and there is some kind of a pattern to it.
Also, I'm not saying that (in this case Polish) local moderator should be replaced. I did, to some extent, start the topic because of his recent lack of activity and threads, where people complained about other moderators. Nonetheless, asking questions stimulated by such a behavior is not unambiguous with an 'intent of replacement' Smiley

My question is same as the subject of the topic.
What are the basis for promotion of user X to local moderator title?
Is there a specific lack-of-activity requirement?  Or is the reasoning
behind the decision different for every case?
