True story!

The following is a pickup line I've once used, and it worked perfectly.

Have you seen the new Shoney's stationary? (I then passed her a note written on said restaurant's napkin)

The note read:

Quote
I've never seen you before.
And I may never see you again.
But I have to tell you this
In case I never see you again.
You sure are pretty!

Bruno

The whole while, my partner was working on a set of plans and never saw her walk in. She sat two booths from us, facing me (we're in a corner booth). I could tell that she was a regular, for Laurie, the waitress, already knew what she wanted and was serving her.

After giving her the note (after she ate breakfast, of course), she got up from her table, walked passed our table without even a simple acknowledgement, and went to the cash register. Then she turned around and returned to her table to place a tip. Walking back toward us, she stopped for the first time and graced our table. This was the first time David laid eyes on her. She said to me, "I like your style!" Then left the restaurant.

David, now living in Las Vegas, was shocked, to say the least. I needed to know her name, so I asked Laurie. She told me, and also told me what she eats every morning upon me asking her. The next day, I had on my person Celestial Herbal Tea bags, and waited for her to arrive. She didn't disappoint me. I asked if I could join her for breakfast, of which she said that that would be fine. I told Laurie I'm having the same breakfast as her. When the hot water came, I pulled out the tea bags to steep both cups.

That was the beginning of a nice relationship.

How did it end?

Same way!

I met her over at Vanderbilt (Nashville) for a picnic lunch in one of the courtyards. I knew that this would be the last time I may ever see her, so I came prepared. During lunch, we mostly engaged in small talk. Upon leaving, we arrived at the crosswalk where we will be going in opposite directions. We kissed goodbye, and she turned to walk away. I stopped her after I let her take a couple steps. I said, "Did you see the new Shoney's stationary?" She turned and said no. I then handed her a newly written prose on the restaurant's napkin. It read:

Quote
I've seen you before
But I may never see you again.
Our paths may never cross again
But I need to tell you this.
You sure the hell are pretty.

Bruno

With a slight smile, and possibly a tear, she said, "I like your style!" then turned and walked away--just like in the movies.

I never did see her again, but thanks to the internet, I know where she's at. The only problem is that she's 19 years older than I, and I'm 52 now. I'm willing to bet that she's still pretty.
