I currently use the same 49-port hub shown above with great success. I got lucky and found it for much less than normal costs, but I can assure you that I have no problem using all 49 ports simultaneously. It is very nice because it spaces the erupters nicely for good airflow, can hang on the wall, and is not so large it gets in the way (much better than 8 hubs stacked up).

That's what I did.  I just ordered a couple more that I am going to cut the wart off the cable and use a PC power supply to run.  I have a 5v5a brick driving one now and it is fine other than the brick getting warm.

Have you even made ROI with 1 of your erupters?
I mean, a hub is mad expensive, you are killing ROI by buying em.
Better stick em in a PC and let that PC mine too = double profit.

They list the psu as
- Comes with 100~240V US plug AC power adapter
- Output: 400mA

1 asic need 500mA or .5 amp.

I use Roswell RUB-500 10 port hubs, they have a 4 amp psu, enough for 8 miners.  I run 7 to have a .5 amp headroom.

I've seen 6 of the rhb500's connected to a single rhb500 and the single connected to a RPi, runs 64 miners with no problems. The single hub also held 4 miners.

I have more hubs and miners on the way, good way to waste money.

Hmm, not sure, sorry. I can't quite see a brand name to properly identify the hub, it could just be a generic Chinese hub that doesn't carry a brand, I cannot say.

Can you run a different but simple power supply, something with 5 volts but with 4amps, That should let you comfortably run 7 ea.

Thanks for the link. I actually looked at that psu on Amazon but did you look at the customer reviews down below the listing? They are some of the worst I have seen for any product, so I just will not buy that item. If it works well for you, that's fine, I'm looking for a well-built, compliant psu that drives the full ten erupters and gives me a little 'sleep-easy' at night.

I probably need a 12V 6A regulated psu, that should be more than sufficient to work with the Orico hubs... by the looks of it, could be tricky to find. Hard to believe really, you'd have thought there would be loads of different types available. Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong place?

I love my anker (and off brands of it).  They look great in a row 10 up in air.  But right now nothing competes with MCM as far as cost per port.  Only thing is they are slow shipping, and amazon normally is out at decent price so have to do direct.

Well, I've been running a pair of those and have been running them with ten erupters each in them 24/7 for just over a month. Only earlier tonight one of the psu's failed. I was pushing it though, the rule of thumb seems to be 5 amps per ten erupters and the psu is rated at 4 amps, so I expected a diminished operating life, but I expected it to last more than a month. I'm now trying to hunt down another psu that pushes perhaps 6 amps or more and will be compatible with the hub, I found this thread while scouting for recommendations, so if anyone has any thoughts, please let me know.

Other than the psu issue (which was really my fault) the hubs have been running flawlessly. I hear stories of people with other hubs who have trouble with some ports not working intermittently, having to turn the power off and on regularly to get all ports talking with their miner and other annoying issues that slow down mining output and generally just irritate and consume time. Not so with these hubs, at least, not in my short experience with them so far, they've hardly missed a beat and if aesthetics are your thing, they have fantastic blue LEDs that beam up the edge of each erupter for a clean futuristic look:



I took this pic when I first got them and I used each alternate port initially to see how they ran, when they ran fine, I filled up the hub with the maximum ten erupters, which of course doubled the power consumption stressing the psu. In fact, I liked the hubs so much that I bought another pair of them as I've got some BPMC Fury's arriving soon, so at least I had a spare psu when it died on me earlier. However, I need to be realistic, I need more power to run them more efficiently, so any recommendations anyone has will be greatly appreciated.

what about the orico 10 port usb 3 units? those have good reviews

Cambronix the supplier of ipadcarts is charging $1200 for each of those hubs wholesale.

Running 49 Eruptors on that board would net him ฿6.67 a month.

Just 10 Eruptors cost about ฿6.
 

I sold one of the notorious 20-port hubs to a friend of mine for about $90 USD.. He actually got all 20-ports working. So that may be one of the more cost-effective solutions at that volume. Allegedly (and I need to confirm this with him - but it all seems legit) that the key is that you have to use 2 USB cables to your PC, and it works just fine.
