I think your calculation is wrong.
This is my 3 x R9 270x and 46.49MH/s power i have.
Earning in last 24 hours 1.533089 ETH (dwarfpool)
earn $2 per card i think its not possible.

I did a test with a gtx 960 tweaked and managed 8.2mh/s over 6 hours on nanopool in claymore eth only.  That is about .49 a day, and a 970 can do about 2.5 times that so maybe $1.20 a day? I believe the 970 can be tweaked to do about 24mh/s eth, however that's right at bricking them.

Speaking of Claymore...  why not just dual mine ETH and sia or pasc?  Seems that would be the best return when I check the calculations.

What is the first choice for today to mine with gpu?

I think it will be Ethereum. The Decred could also be good.

It doesn't matter if its 6 months or 12 months or 2 years. The way the new difficulty formula is calculcated makes all GPUs mining useless in about 6-7 months when we approach block 2.5million.

So for now just get the 2GB since its cheaper.

I have 3X msi 370 4GB that do approx 15 mhs each

Are you saying that the 2GB version will do same MHs?

Yes and you should get 17mhs with your MSI

i was planing on getting the 4gbs , i guess that's canceled!

btw i'd be paying sth like 183$ for the 2gbs which i guess is a bit too expensive but on the other hand i'd pay like 5cents per KW tops!
what's the general verdict does it sound like a good deal? should i go for it?

p.s. sorry op if i'm derailing the conversation not bringing any new coins and ideas to the table.
i'm just a noob trying to learn and this has been a very helpful thread;
will be following it closely and bring in content as soon as i have something that's not already mentioned!  Lips sealed

I will welcome gpu miners here, cordially. Just keep in mind that we all are learning and we need to keep the thread alive. That will help us a lot. BTW happy mining

To notify everyone, this thread was made to gather info for new gpu miners. It is true that one miner hardly helps other. But as we are new, we need to learn from everything. So keep sharing your ideas, new coin info, newest coin launch time etc.

I am mining Eth with a single gpu and getting 0.01 btc per day. It is not bad for a small gpu miner like me.

Feathercoin and primecoin are GPU mineable. Feathercoin is one of the oldest alt coins and still has an active dev team plus it's profitable to mine (or it has been very recently, not sure about right now)

With optimal parameters 3 gtx 970 should do 66 MHASH. Mining on a Pool will loose 10%

66Mhash:

http://badmofo.github.io/ethereum-mining-calculator/

Gives around 2.5 ETH a day. ($6.41)

The gtx 970 comes with 4GB of ram, and this meens that the profitability will increase when the Dag file is increasing and the 270, 280x cards cannot be used anymore.

The DAG increases 400 MB per year. So by the end of this year, the DAG will be 2200 MB. 270x will not work, but 280x will still work.

Something is wrong with your math...dag is about 1300mb now so in one year it will be 1700mb

7970, 7950  are profitable to mine Ethereum if your electricity is low. I am not sure about 77 or 78 cards. 5850 cannot do Ethereum.

So the best GPU to buy second hand is a 280X/7950/7970 ? The 270X is too slow and the 290X is just too expensive and not that much quicker.

Besides ETH, whats the 2nd more profitable coin with the 280X? Vanilla Coin? Monero ?

May be card with higher vram is needed. Any 4gb card will work better may be

Mine etherum.

You get 21MHASH @ 150 watt.. (gigabyte windforce g1 in p0 state and overclocked memory) (linux/windows 7)

$2 a day per card.

The powercost with  (0.12$/KWh) is $0.432 per day

The global hashrate is equal to around 35000 gtx 970 cards

It will be a great help for small gpu miners like me if people share the new coins in this industry which can only be mined by GPU with their launch date and other info. We need to learn first, so any one can share their experience here.
Please post if you know about:

1. New GPU mineable coin
2. Your feedback regarding the coin
3. Possible date of launch.
you realize that there several 1000's of reader where you post...  and giving you any advice would probably kill the little profit people in the know could have...

If it's not SHA256 based (Bitcoin, Namecoin, etc) or Scrypt based (Litecoin, Doge, etc), and if there is a GPU miner for it at all, it's GPU mineable - which means pretty much everything else out there BUT SHA256 and Scrypt based coins.

I personally like the concept behind CureCoin, but dunno if it's actually profitable at this point - but if you're gonna fold anyway, might as well make a LITTLE income from it to counter the costs. 8-)

Which makes me wish there was an RC5coin.....

DASH depends on your electric rate, it CAN still be profitable - but most mining is highly dependent on how much you pay for electric to figure if it's profitable or not.

all my GPUs merge folding Curecoin and Foldingcoin+getting nice assets sometimes
maybe less profitable on short term (hope it change)
good idea! For those who got only one or two gpus, they can look at these options. Like you said less profitable on short term but can be big in future if they follow the path of GRC marketcap. These three coins (GRC, FLDC, CURE) are always in my crunching list.

It all depends upon your cost of electricity.  I pay 10 cents USD per KWH.  Mining DASH uses 900 watts and I get .5 DASH a day from a 4 GPU AMD 290X miner.  I actually fall behind a few cents daily, but the miner does heat the living room and saves on the gas bill.
If you are in California, and paying 25 cents a KWH, you are paying 250 dollars a month for $80 in coins.
If you are stealing the electricity from your employer or school............ shame on you
Fortunately, Nevada has special rate available of 6 cents  USD/KWH rates but,
there is 5 hours a day over 3 mo. summer where rates are 10x  that.
Miners get turned off for that time so I will look at Dash.
