if you want use the linux client
u can type chmod 777 leadcoind before run  start_leadcoind.sh

root@cs:~# cd leadcoin-linux/
root@cs:~/leadcoin-linux# chmod 777 leadcoind
root@cs:~/leadcoin-linux# sh start_leadcoind.sh
Leadcoin server starting
root@cs:~/leadcoin-linux#

I am actually a little dissapointed, you didnt read my the post didnt you?

This is a 64bit binary, this still wont work on my 32bit system. Also i did compile it. And the fazit of the post was that you actually COULD already set the right file permissions, which would make it easier for newbies to install. And mention that this is a 64bit file. Not everybody has 64bit, especially not on linux where you dont need it for more than 4GB ram.

I just was about to set up a pool but it seems it should not be that simple...

if i try to compile it my own (what i usually prefer anyway) i get this:

Code:
$ make -f makefile.unix
Building LevelDB ...
/bin/sh: 1: ./build_detect_platform: Permission denied
make[1]: Entering directory `/home/pool/COINS/leadcoin/src/leveldb'
Makefile:18: build_config.mk: No such file or directory
make[1]: *** No rule to make target `build_config.mk'.  Stop.
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/pool/COINS/leadcoin/src/leveldb'
make: *** [leveldb/libleveldb.a] Error 2

If i use your compiled linux client i get this:

Code:
$ sh start_leadcoind.sh
start_leadcoind.sh: 2: start_leadcoind.sh: ./leadcoind: not found

Code:
$ file leadcoind
leadcoind: ELF 64-bit LSB executable, x86-64, version 1 (GNU/Linux), dynamically linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.6.24, BuildID[sha1]=0xfad5743e9d0e5335992c644bcb1d7e76496efc9d, not stripped

you should probably mention that its an 64bit binary. also you usually would strip a binary before shipping.

I use this machine to compile all the coins, and never had problems until yet.

Anyway, let me get straight. The awesome thing with tar.gz is you can set user rights and they wont be lost like with .zip and .rar. Same goes for github. Basicly all i needed to do was chmod +x leveldb/build_detect_platform
