As we all know few countries are banning cryptocurrencies. But are the people aware of cryptocurrencies' existence before it gets banned / legalized in their country?

I think banning bitcoin will have a negative impact on a specific country simply because I believe that bitcoin is our future. Actually a lot of countries are now adopting bitcoin and people should be more thankful because of this. The main concern here is, still not all people trust or know bitcoin so for me public awareness is important.

First and foremost, how can you legalize something that you don't know or something that you're unaware of? In order for everyone to accept what is bitcoin and what are cryptocurrencies, they have to know it first, the what, the why's and the how's. Once that is done, then the government and those who have the authority can decide whether cryptocurrency should be legalized or what, after they have weighed and taken both sides into account.

nobody is banning bitcoin these days, in fact they are all adopting it and even talk about how legalizing bitcoin is going to be a good thing for them. you know as in tax revenue, Cool

in any case, either one of these will bring the other.
if you legalize bitcoin, it will bring public awareness
public awareness can also bring legalization.

but making it illegal won't prevent the public awareness though. bitcoin is decentralized and nobody can really ban it for good. and they can never prevent people from finding out about bitcoin and wanting to use the peer to peer network!

You're making it sounds like there's a massive btc banning occuring around the world, which is not like that.

We can't by generalizing the "people" for being aware of cryptocurrencies. The world is wide and not all can take to have knowledge and idea that cryptocurrencies are existing.

I'm very sorry. I reconstructed my question.

All of your answers have  points. Thank you guys for answering.

Who's banning crypto? All countries are implementing it and making relevant laws.

Both are needed for bitcoin, legalization and as well as public awareness. Legalizing bitcoin will give the citizens to have the guarantee that they will not violate or do such criminal act by just using bitcoin as news out there are very misleading and tells this way. Public awareness is good for countries that doesn't have a stand with bitcoin.

You're making it sounds like there's a massive btc banning occuring around the world, which is not like that. 'Some countrie's are barely a few southeast asian states where the governments are too corrupt so they want to keep absolute control over its citizens and the financial system.

I think public awareness is more important right now, because, how can you legalize a cryptocurrency that the public doesn't even know or understand? even though Bitcoin is having a lot of exposure from the media over the recent months, there's still unawareness in the general public regarding bitcoin and many questions are left unanswered (what is it?, what does it do?, how does it work?, how can i use it?, etc).

As we all know some countries are banning cryptocurrencies. But are the people aware of its existence?

It is true that BTC is illegal in some countries, but I think it was expected when we know that different people think differently and different countries have different opinions in terms of some things, and that including BTC.But when we look at the countries who ban/declared BTC as illegal we may see they come from all continents and there is poor and well-established countries.I do not know it is true, but one country which banned BTC is Iceland, and there is a list of few more: Bangladesh,Taiwan,Kyrgyzstan,Bolivia,Ecuador,Vietnam and recently Morocco.

Regarding your second question, are you asking people are aware of cryptocurrency or that their countries make them illegal?

I think that the knowledge of the existence of BTC and any other cryptocoin is still relatively small if we consider the whole world, but it is certain that every day it increases more and more.

Sorry for my misleading question. Edited it. Yes, the increase of awareness of people in bitcoin is quite noticeable for this year. I hope this continues for the years to come.

Who's banning crypto? All countries are implementing it and making relevant laws.

Not all countries are legalizing it or making any relevant laws. There are a very few countries who have legalized it and majority of the countries are not sure what to do with it. Either they don't bother or they are too serious about the negative impact of bitcoin. I am sure the majority of the governments are not taking bitcoin positively. Not all countries are progressive like Japan.

However, I believe legalizing bitcoin will help the mankind as a whole. A lot of new business will open up. A lot of new job opportunities will be created. More over, a lot of money will be infused in the economy which will increase the purchasing power of its citizens. It will have a very positive impact on any economy if a country legalize bitcoin. But they are facing a lot of pressure from the Banks and main stream financial institutions who wants to ban bitcoin. But the legal status is still unclear in majority countries.

For me legalization awareness is easy if you have the government acceptance within you because mostly these days people won't entertain companies or businesses that are illegal and not approved by their government because they want to avoid government intervals and pusnishments among them. So for the first foremost the bitcoin should go through first is to pass the legal process.

for a digital currency that is still banned any country, I think only a few percent who know the existence of cryptocurrencies. cryptocurrency is still a lot of trouble to fix so that a country recognizes it.
