I mean if they can afford collateral it should be no problem to grant a "small" loan...

Yes it would be possible to limit a sub to a certain rank or whatever. Could be a good idea, but like BadBear said newbs will just ask for loans elsewhere if they can't see the loan section.

Only alts of known scammers would do that, not actual "new" people to the forum. Since they wouldn't know about it, they wouldn't think of posting anything like that in there, I wouldn't call those new people "scammers" but more like beggars. He needs bitcoin, he finds the forum, sees the Lending section, he posts it there for a quick scam.

I'm pretty sure it'll do more good to the section, so could you please consider it? Thank you again.

They'll just make the post somewhere else. "Sorry guys I can't post there for some reason!". Or do it in pms.

Would there be a way to make the section completely hidden to them until they reach a certain activity level? I doubt people will make posts asking for loans if they don't know there is a lending section.

At least it's a restriction. Not much but it will still prevent constant posts from newbies.

Speaking about PM's, here's a small sample of what I've been getting:

hello john..im from malaysia..can i borrow from u just 0.01 BTC..please...i will pay back to you in 5 days Sad..please john..im promise i will sent back to you

please~ im not like that..please just..when im done double my btc..i will give back to you..just 0.01 btc huhu..

That was sent to me when that account had 0 post and everything. I guess they're getting more and more desperate now...

The Malaysian prince? This is something new. But yeah, as badbear says the would post it somewhere else, causing off topic spam in those sections or pm, but good idea though!

PM is already protected from spamming due to the newbie PM limitations. As for off-topic spamming, well, that's a reason for admins to ban them, if they do it repeatedly. no?
If the restriction includes the whole Marketplace, it will filter off all the spam off of it, so indeed it is a good idea.

You restrict them to not posting for 360 seconds like that stops them from spaming.... So why not go to the next step.

I tend to agree with this, it should be the marketplace in general. If they want to spam newbie land let them have at it.

Not "some reason". Once the restriction is implemented, he would clearly be told that he is not allowed to post in that subforum. Making the Lending sub much more seriously readable, and more interesting to go through, than as disgusting as it is now.

Or do it in pms.

Well, I'm more interested in the subforum's content. It shouldn't be what it is now. No one can control what happens in PMs, there could as well be extortious PMs of murder accusations between members, hell even between mods, who knows. Does that affect in any way the forum's well being? No. So as long as any user with a minimum of rational thinking, receives a PM asking you to double your btc if you send them to X address, or to loan Y user some coins, he would know better than to buy the bait.

I'm not sure if anyone asked for this before, but it needs to be implemented if possible. 70% of people posting in the Lending subforum, are Newbies? And not just newbies, but newbies with litteraly 1 post count?

These users are only a small example of most posts in the Lending sub. Seriously?

"Oh hey, I just known about bitcoin yesterday, and hey I saw this forum today! It looks like a nice forum! How about I ask for a loan of 10 bucks on my first post! Yeah!"

Please, any user with even the smallest interest into joining the forum, will most likely post his first post whether in the beginners section because he is a new bitcoiner, or in the trading section because he needs to exchange his bitcoin to X service or Y good, or in the announcement section because he is a Ponzi scheme scammer that needs to introduce his new investment plan to users without harming his alt. (true story)

So when you see that there are over 10 users per day who register to ask for a loan. Wow. My human brain simply cannot embrace the stupidity of the idea. Why in the world would anyone look into that small little fucking link shoved under a pile of text called Lending, if he wasn't deliberately trying to spam it for the victim that would make his day.

I demand to limit posting in that subforum to at least Junior Members, if not Members. At least if any of those posts a post asking for a loan, you know that he "might" be serious about it, or like Bitcoin-Police would say 50% SCAM POTENTIAL

But letting newbies with absolute zero post count post in there, is making that sub the least serious subform in here. It is full of spam, scam, and junk.

Thank you.
