With the halving so near, I am hyped! You should be too!

So here comes the question - Bitcoin is about to go through a widespread state of instability. What are you doing for bitcoin?

I'm hosting a node ^_^
I'm not excited because see the bitcoin price today, it have been decreased for more than $60, maybe it will be counted as a dump, then if the price increases because of the halving to tell others that wow the price has been increased because of the halving, simple it isn't making any sense.

Well, I am hoarding my coins and are not dumping because the price will be going up. There are a lot of people, who wants to cash in on this event, but they are going to cry like little babies when this thing goes to the moon after the Halving event is over and all the hype and speculation has calmed down.

Just imagine that you selling at say $700, thinking that it is the best price and it goes to $1000 to $2000 when all this is over. ^smile^

Halving is just few days away and the bitcoin current price is 660$. How can it goes to 1000$ in just a day or two.
I think 700$ is a good price to sell the coins.
try holding until reaching 800$ im not very familiar in what's going on from the block chain i'm just relying to this particular terms that said halving hoping that after that time comes bitcoin will show big price pump then i'll going to sell my btc.

Well if bitcoin will really have a big pump on it's price it would be great for the people who hoard their bitcoin since last year but not for me I guess Grin becuase I frequently used some of my coin before I have no choice but to sell it because if I wouldnt do that I am not able to take my exam the next days Grin

Price will obviously rise. I hope halving starts from tomorrow evening. Smiley
I think the same actually,i expect price rise at halving, but i wouldnt be so sure my friend Cheesy
Im getting more and more annoyed because of confirmation time,it gets longer and longer for me -,-

i think that at halving people will tart dumping coins. making the price drop.
If it was to happen do you think people will starts dumping their coins just before or just after halving?
It is also a possibility that the recent price spike may have been partly caused by some whales buying up due to the halving hype and will dump just before the event to clean up but probably only a small part, most will dump a day or two after if that's what there planning.

well btc wa bit high now dropping like thi, ppc also i see some changes, dubbling and halfing in few days.

I guess btc willl drop mayve to 450 again.maybe evn less

it might go over 1k for christmass, might be highest time on any tipe of transaction.

thats what i guess.

Further, miners could stop mining, because it is no longer profitable. In turn, total hashing power will decrease significantly. This might trigger a psychological reaction that draws Bitcoin's growth into question. As a result, buying demand for new coins decreases.

Do you think that many buyers pay attention to that statistic? I doubt the vast majority have the slightest clue. And the hashrate gave up relating to reality a long time ago. They will pay attention if the difficulty adjustment screws with how things operate of course.

The real effects of halving are going to take months to absorb. And people keep getting the words 'supply' and 'production' mixed up. If the price is right there will always be enough supply.

Well said! I think it might take considerable time for a new equilibrium to be found, too. If that will mean higher fiat valuation as a lot of people here have been constantly suggesting remains to be seen. It's also possible that miners will bring new hashing power in operation faster to compensate for a perceived loss in revenue and in turn production of new coins might decrease less significantly than expected. Another alternative scenario would be miners hoarding less coins and selling more coins at exchanges to pay for electricity.

Further, miners could stop mining, because it is no longer profitable. In turn, total hashing power will decrease significantly. This might trigger a psychological reaction that draws Bitcoin's growth into question. As a result, buying demand for new coins decreases.

In all these scenarios, fiat/Bitcoin exchange rate might not increase at all. Whatever happens, I think the halving is a great event to celebrate the very existence of Bitcoin. Therefore I treat myself to a nice cold beer at the halving.

ya.ya.yo!

how many block are mined per day ?

There will always be the same number of blocks mined. It's the block reward that reduces. If the number of blocks mined fell too then we'd have more than a few functionality problems.

I'm predicting nothing special will happen because of the halving.

Price will continue to increase and decrease because of unknown causes, miners will continue to mine, block size will not increase, network will continue congested and shitty.

I would guess it depends on the margins the big miners are making.

If the price is below their costs one can only assume that they will stop mining in the short term. It all boils down to the elasticity of Bitcoin demand and the proportion of Bitcoin supply that was not recently mined.

I think the recent dump in price from 700 level back to 600$ range is by whales to grab few more cheap coins before halving. Within few days we may experience a huge pump beyond 800$. Although i am quite feared to see this dump just few days before halving.
