making promotion for bitcoin is a good idea, i am doing this by using t-shirt with the name tag bitcoin in my chest so people can watch and read bitcoin. i think when i am walk in shopping store with that shirt, people take a look and i see they are curious about what they read but they are shy to ask.

the other thing that i am promoting about bitcoin is when i and my friends go to coffe shop or cafe, we always talking about crypto currencies. we always love to discuss everything in crypto currencies world although our knowledge is not much than other people but we are proud to be the member of crypto currencies.

it does make me happy when I see the phrase "buy bitcoin" in a TI7. Dota2 has a big community and I can ensure that this may make more people wonder what bitcoin is and will attract more people to join to our community. There is only steam accept bitcoin right now but I think that it does support dota2 very much. Therefore, keep working Steam. Bitcoin is the best:D
That sounds great to me! In order to make bitcoins more famous, it needs to attract more people. It already is attracting masses all over the world and no doubt Dota2 community can play very important role in this regard. At least, Steam accepted bitcoins and I hope it will help in production of more bitcoin lovers. Bitcoins rock!

Overall the idea of promoting Bitcoin is good , I don't think this will do anything at all. The guy who hold the sign at Janet Yellen's testimony was cool because his sign was visible and I'm sure everyone who watched it saw the guy holding it.However streams and online tournaments or concerts isn't going to work. How many of you tries to read all the signs when there is a crowd on T.V holding multiple signs at the same time Cheesy.

This kind of marketing strategy is not really shocking after all, it starts many years ago. But the increase of advertisements may due to the increasing price of bitcoin. It would continue from now until the price is kicking.
I hope the viewers of this ads will be careful in signing.

Just a little warning, some event organizers frown on that type of promotion and advertising methods and you might be forced to leave the event that you paid for, if you risk doing something like that. A friend of mine did this at a sport event and he got escorted out of the building. < Reason : Only paid official advertisers gets air time >

Free expose or advertising is not always welcomed at these events. ^grrrrrrr^

Is doing something like this really effective? if it is then other should continue to promote bitcoin and spread awareness about it. I think that putting up the 'buy bitcoin' sign will confuse many people especially those who do not what bitcoin means. Promotion of bitcoin should be done in social media platforms such as facebook and twitter, and educational campaigns should be done for the new users.

It is a great idea, the target is those people who do not know about bitcoin. It would get their attention and give them curiosity on what bitcoin is. Plus it is a cheaper way than advertising on television. You just need to pick the right place where to put those signs. I hope to see some 'buy bitcoin' posters and signs here in my country someday.   Smiley

Embrace change
"Buy Bitcoin" sign appearred again today.

Buy Bitcoin’ Sign Appears During DOTA International Tournament
https://cointelegraph.com/news/buy-bitcoin-sign-appears-during-dota-international-tournament

"Bitcoin made an unplanned appearance at the most recent DOTA (Defense of the Ancients) International Tournament, as an audience member held up a ‘Buy Bitcoin’ sign during announcements of the televised event.

Bitcoin has been frequently popping up in unlikely locations.  The current stunt, intended to increase awareness of Bitcoin, is not the first of its kind, after an audience member at Janet Yellen’s congressional briefing did the same.

Both events indicate a growing awareness of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies generally. The awareness may be part of the reason for the substantial price increases over recent months, with Bitcoin cresting $3700 today.

"

I expect more signs will pop up in sport events and many other places.  It is a way to promote Bitcoin as well as other cryptocurrencies.

This is, indeed, a great and free promotion for bitcoin. I'm a tennis fan so I look forward too signs popping up in Grand Slams. Hopefully, these bitcoin investors can get the support of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams. These are the icons of the tennis world. They have millions of followers in Twitter, which make them big influencers. The four of them can help circulate the good word as why people need to consider investing in bitcoin for a better tomorrow.

As I see it, ICO needs more channels to promote the real value of bitcoin and other cryptocurrency. Everex makes use of bitcoin and ethereum to build a better and quicker remittance system, details here: goo.gl/E2NDF2, but this start-up company alone needs other groups for a successful campaign. The cryptospace world needs more support from businessmen, athletes, movies etc.

This has become a very cute promotion for Bitcoin and as a bonus adding some comedic relief as well. I think websites that has cryptocurrency as one of their topics must include the 'Buy Bitcoin" sign and we should be promoting this on Facebook and Twitter. I am sure that soon big events televised live would be seeing adventurous people raising the sign. This and more can be signs that sooner or later we can be entering the mainstream consciousness of the masses.

This thread should be come the spot where new sightings of "Buy Bitcoin" signs are posted.

Anyone seen any others since the DOTA event? News, golf tournaments, sporting events, concerts, any and all events.

The ultimate would be multiple sightings on some night like New Years Eve, sightings from every party around the world!

This is a very nice idea! But maybe a lot of people will start talking about it and some people could say that it is like a ponzi-scheme, dont invest on it, bla bla bla.
I think the best way to promote bitcoin is through the Tv, social media, or just in movies, everybody watch them. Just seing someone paying with bitcoins on a movie can make the watcher be curious about this new feature and maybe that will introduce him into this world.

I think that was a good strategy promoting bitcoin. Instead of spending money to go to advertising agencies, holding a banner for the world to see is a good move and I commend that guy for his effort. I wonder if someone will do it in mayweather's fight? All those people who will be watching live on the ringside are rich. They are good targets because most of them are gambler. It's about time they put some of their wealth into btc.

This is funny indeed. And I think this is not the first time that we are going to see some stunt being pulled live in TV. Well Dota competition is a good venue to exposed bitcoin as there are a lot of fans of this game and this is also followed in the news lately. I salute that guy for doing this. Maybe this is a good step for making bitcoin globally accepted. Who knows? We all know that we are just starting the revolution and anything that will contribute to bringing awareness to the masses about bitcoin is a welcome addition to the crypto world.

Not trying to be a dick, but wtf is a DOTA?

I kid, but joke to illustrate my point. We need bitcoin to be advertised in mainstream venues, to actually increase public awareness. A DOTA tournament, and the folks that would watch a DOTA tournament, pretty much beyond the shadow of a doubt already know what bitcoin is. I mean, a dude held up a bitcoin sign.

We need bitcoin signs a Beyonce concerts. And NBA/NFL games. At the Grammys and Emmys. And not some hastily made school project board job; we need the Foundation to actually sponsor said advertisement, like the hilarious but sad Bitcoin Bowl. It could have worked out great, its just they didnt really try to actually market. It seems they thought people were going to be so amazed at the virtues of bitcoin they would instantly adopt, I guess.. it didnt turn out too pretty, the merchants that pledged to accept btc didnt get customers. also a flawed campaign, because duh someone that would spend bitcoin obviously knows about it.

Le sigh.

Meh,  it's just a stunt.  People run through baseball fields naked and some people walk around with signs about 9/11 conspiracy theories.   The market speaks for itself.   When an asset rises this high this fast, you don't need to wave a sign or advertise it on TV or anywhere else.   That make sense?  Having said that, I wouldn't mind seeing bitcoin stickers on light poles in my town or something like that.   I swear I'm the only one who's into bitcoin. I know that's not true, but it feels like it.

Seeing a Bitcoin fansign is an exciting feeling for me, Even it is a prank or not, but still it is an advertising to me. A crafty and cheap way to market a digital currency. This kind of promotion catches peoples' attention in a different way. Bitcoin is still young, digital currency needs more creative marketers. People in our place need to know more about Bitcoin.

I don't think we should advertise Bitcoin, because newcomers will probably have weak hands and contribute to volatility. When Bitcoin was dropping to below $2,000, social media were full on angry people asking why Bitcoin is falling and if Bitcoin is dead. Most people don't have enough determination to hodl for years, they check price every few hours like if they are going to day trade or something. Bitcoin should be promoted via educated posts and personal conversations, so potential investors can grasp on it's technical basics, and don't do some mistakes like holding coins on exchange, losing they keys and wallets, getting involved in ponzi's and ico's, and so on.

Bitcoin is indeed the best and if we all keep promoting it this way then I think we will likely win this he world over in no time. I think we should label "but Bitcoin " everywhere possible and lawful so that we can as it were publicize Bitcoin to the Unknown in our respective sphere of influence.

Ok, this idea could work, but we need to agree to two things:

1. Never put a BTC address on the sign. This isn't about getting some bitcoin dust from a few thousand people, and

2. Agree to talk to our friends and family after they see the sign. Seeing the sign on the TV can still have a limited effect in getting people to act. And action is what we need. When someone says "hey did you see this "Buy Bitcoin" sign?" respond with "yeah...have you bought any yet?!"

Godspeed.

Well also read before investing and anything. Because chances are they may have read it and can be very eager to invest without at least some basic knowledge. From what im seeing there are lot of posts on btc about links and others. Most of them are even referrals with screen shots of money on some sites. I dont know if there are people who are trying to log in on those sites but there are some referral links that are really profiting from new investors.
