Facebook is too low in the food chain to want to want to dominate the world financial system, there are many big companies that would propose this and won't have any trouble. What I feel is just that Facebook just want to have a piece of the cake, though time will tell if this would be a success

I can relate with the poster but it is absolutely impossible, crypto is very volatile and not everyone may buy into it, you may find out that more than 80% of Facebook users are not aware of crypto or may not be interested. I am particularly worried about their domination in the crypto space and buying up every seemingly competitor, they would have done so to bitcoin by the time they join if bitcoin wasn't decentralized

They will be aware of the new method of payment - the advertisement is the stuff which is loved by facebook so very much! Therefore, even if they avoid ads and any crypto news, they will be involved in all this stuff. Libra can become a very good alternative method not only to pay online but to save your money from inflation which will attract many people.

Is Libra the first step for Facebook to take control of the world?

Lets think about the facts:
- Facebook has 1/3 of the world as its user base (2.4 billion users)
- Libra coin will be very easily accessible to all of facebooks users
- Libra coin will be a stable coin, price will not fluctuate providing users in 3rd world countries with a medium to store their wealth.

There are already countries (like venezuela) where a national financial crisis caused fiat money to lose all worth. In desperation people are moving their life savings to bitcoin... Considering that bitcoin is a hard resource for the average person to use, imagine how quick adoption of Libra will be. Libra will be available to use on every cheap smartphone. Developed by Facebook it is sure to be a very user friendly experience, everyone will be able to use Libra. People will use it like real money in every possible way through things like facebook messenger, online shops, international transfers, peer to peer transfers...

Facebook has penetrated our lives in almost all possible ways; relationships, news, entertainment, social gatherings, advertising... the list goes on. The only thing facebook still doesn't have control over is our money. Here comes Libra...

The snowball is rolling, it can not be stopped.

Imagine the world in 20, maybe 50 years.

With the addition of Libra, and a very smart plan for user adoption Facebook can rise to a position of such great power, that it will be in control of the whole world.

If Libra is officially established by the US government and other countries agree. It will affect all existing banks and financial corporations. That will affect a lot of companies and even a nation's finances. I don't think Libra will be accepted early this year

It depends on what Facebook has in mind. If they want to use Libra as virtual currency (which they will since it is meant to be a stable coin), then it is more likely that way around.
So much news on this project and it seems to me that he will not enter the cryptocurrency market for at least 2 years. All this is so far within the discussion.

I am sure that things will be quiet soon. I expect that the concerns and conversation will be revived when LIBRA is actually launched.
It's not until US will agree with the launch of libra, as the country that has very big domination to the world and US consideration means a lot for the future of libra. It will not be quiet until there will be an approval but facebook must try to give more effort to achieve it.

It if could be the strategy to dominate the world finance and financial markets. Facebook’s Libra is going to outshine every company like PayPal and WU when it comes to user base or consumer satisfaction by charging mind-blowing low prices per transaction. We are yet to see its impact on the market but yeah, it is one wise move by the company.

There are really no two ways about it but to stop Libra coin from launching else with the assets at the disposal of Facebook which includes a massive trustful community, its only but time before Facebook users commence full banking activities on the Libra blockchain.

But what can be done to stop it? There is so much money being pumped into this development, and so many partnerships...

I think even the US government is pretty much powerless.

man I just had this conversation with friends the other day. at least there are crypto OGs like David Chaum who have been saying it all along and still in it for the fight

Great friends you got, I tried to bring this up too buy my friends were not so interested haha Smiley

we still don't not know whether Libra can be a big coin that competes with other coins, but I think Libra will quickly become popular on Facebook's social media because Libra is part of the biggest social media today that's is Facebook. if this coin has been launched in next year and has a positive impact on the crypto world, then I want to invest in Libra in the future.
For its influence and popularity in the society already, it will sure step on the toes of so many coins because it will be widely accepted, as long as it has a function that is needed by the world out there, and even if it is a centralized coins, it is not every one of us that have the same mentality or strict policy.

There are still so many people that does not care whether a system is decentralized or not, provided it can be fully used to solve any challenge that such user has, so Facebook will surely lead so many other products that we see, and this may even make some of them become shitcoins when people would no longer pay attention to them. The only coins that I am so certain of Libra coin not affecting is Bitcoin.

Wow does this mean Facebook will have its own army or a head of state and function just like a sovereign country, that's too far out, Facebook is internet based government can control the internet and don't allow to broadcast in their own country, don't be too delusional that Facebook will dominate the world.

Not trying to be hurtful or anything, but I think it is impossible to say what the world will look like in 50 years time. Saying that a company won't be able to do something is almost like saying that aliens don't exist Smiley

I don't mean to be a prophet making conspiracy theories about world domination, I just think it is a nice topic to discuss. It is certainly possible!!

I think so. Because Facebook currently has about 2 billion users. If the Libra becomes a reality, it will threaten the world banking system. And now the US Congress is afraid of Facebook manipulating the global currency. So they pressured to delay the launch of the Libra. But I think with the trend of not using cash to pay for goods, eventually the Libra is still released. Then the BTC price will increase tremendously !!

I think Libra coin launched by Facebook is part of the business strategy. With many Facebook members, the chances of Libra coins used by Facebook users will be even greater and investors' perceptions of Facebook will be even better

That is without a doubt true, just imagine how the Facebook shares will soar when LIBRA kicks off.

If payments are made with LIBRA through the facebook platform, then facebook's advertising platform will be even more effective. Facebook will have so much data, and will know exactly what kind of advert will get us to make a purchase.

Till this date they never know if you actually make a purchase, but LIBRA will give them all this information.

No matter how you look at it LIBRA is a great move from facebook. I am just a little worried that it is going to be too much power for one entity.

Libra can really make big changes to the global financial system in the future! And the main thing is not even the fact that Facebook has a huge audience of users, but the fact that most huge corporations cooperate with this company, where it will be possible to introduce Libra as a means of payments, which means everyone will use cryptocurrency!

Libra cannot be volatile as it's a stable coin, if we are believing that Libra will dominate the world, it could also dominate the crypto world and we are allowing a stable coin to dominate when the nature of crypto is suppose to be volatile which is originated by bitcoin which is currently the most popular now.

I also don’t know the future of Libra and that’s why I don’t want to listen to any speculation not until the release of this coin in the market. Its hard to predict a coin without any working technology, or else its a pure hype. Libra can become a big coin, but we still not sure if Libra can run for long term.

With it's big partnerships and big investors, even it was not launch yet, we can already conclude that they are a big coin, so prepare for that.
Personally, I'm not investing on it yet but I might be using the platform, my investment for now focus on bitcoin and other major altcoins and I know Libra is a big boost on the market.
