I see in some posts that get merit, sometimes there are some posts that get merit but I think the post does not have a good quality ,, and I am more aware that this merit system is not effective ,, this is why I very rarely send merit ,,
First, you should know that the merit system is still in the development stage.
Second, people's views on writing quality differ, because they have their own opinions.
Sometimes, posts that you think are good do not necessarily mean I'm good.
send a reward to a post that you think is worth sending, because there is no point letting smerit just to rot, no use bro.

I often tell this on the thread before that.   Smiley

Malboroza is correct if such change does happen with the merit system people would go back to making a lot of account and send all of those merits to their main account making it easier for them to rank. The limited amount of merit is what makes the system valuable and by assigning some merit sources balance things out.

You're right, that's why I ask atleast 1 free merit to receive a day or week if possible to send to others for good. Just see in this thread by admin theymos, https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.28856522 , even theymos does not need it, he receive 50 smerit from one person only. It's given that Admin theymos is a good quality author, but I don't think he need that.
We legendary members don't need merits but still we are receiving merits because of our helpful posts. Everyone has given the option to send how many merits they want. Instead of asking merits from theymos why not just ask on one of these threads.

I don't think it's a problem i just think that owners should consider to higher the limit.
Because most of the people knows that they only have a small limited amount of merit to give, they sometimes decide no to give merit even if they think that the comment/answer they received worth it.
Unlimited merit will cause a lot of spam merits to be given and it would kill the system.

Merit was introduced to stop spam/farming accounts ranking up so fast.
Adding 1 merit every day would make whole system useless.

actually this is a race for newbie account and jr.member.
they can compete with each other to make posts that are more qualified and useful for others, so they are awarded from more senior accounts. after they reach the rank of members, they can also be a motivation for the new accounts again.
the system is still in development stage, hope I hope the spammers quickly disappear and no longer create chaos in this forum.

Sorry, I saw a same merit topic here in market place section, that's why I create too.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/merit-trading-buying-and-selling-bitcointalk-merit-2877669

Don't know how to move this in meta section.

At the bottom left corner of the page you will see this:

As to your idea, the same thing has already been suggested countless times already. It would defeat the whole object of the merit system as account farmers would just use it to rank up their alts.

The system works like this so that making useful posts is the only way to get sMerit to give and that will improve the quality of the whole forum.

The problem in this merit system is the merit count that you can send to others is very limited ( specially when you have a low rank account when the time merit system invented ). What if Sir theymos update this kind of merit system, atleast adding 1 merit everyday (sendable merit). Like my rank, I sent my merit to someone worth it, that's why I don't have smerit even I see a quality post while browsing here in bitcointalk.org.

What do you think?
I understand you consider your lack of smerit a problem for yourself, but for the forum as a whole, it's actually a good thing; the merit system is working as intended. Sendable merit is intentionally scarce; it if was awarded to everyone, spammers would also have it, so they would be able to merit each other's garbage posts and we would be back where we started.

Maybe you can view your lack of smerit as an incentive to write really good posts so that you'll earn merit going forward? You can also apply to become a merit source (https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.28856522), although that requires that you're a 'somewhat established member'.
Thanks for giving me some link to know about the merit system, this is helpful to me. Just want to create a little idea to those who has hard time to get the smerit. Good luck to us folks, maybe the next day is better than this one. Challenge accepted.
Good you have been able to realize the reason why the merit system was created and why everyone has their share of smerit they can give out. If that is not done, the same way ranking up due to activity alone was abused with a lot of alt accounts dropping shit posts to level up, which is the same way the merit system will be abused. Anyone who wants to give out smerit, should just manage the little ones available to them.

Basically if sendable merits is not like that, then it would definitely be abused by a lot of people in the long run. So, it is best to leave the send able merit the way it is, while those who are a high trusted member have a load of it to share around. Even with the little send able merit, some are already abusing it by raising their alts, let alone, when it is giving out too much. As long as you are a low rank member, you may just need to worry about ranking up rather than dishing out merit.
This is the limitation and you cant do anything about it but to pass up on giving out merits when you dont have anything left smerits into your account.I agree on what Kevin said. Its better to mind your own account and making substantial post to level up your rank rather than on stressing yourself out on how to send merits to others. Theymos is already aware about abuse thats why he do design this merit system which i can say its actually a fine thing for me.

Probably this is more appropriate in the meta section.

The answer to this problem probably is the people assigned as merit sources. Since they have like free 100 merits a month they can distribute this and improve the supply of merits available. However, the supply will not depend on whether these sources would consistently give out the merits and all the users cooperate to distribute their own merits.
