Nope I think he meant this one... http://drillbitsystem.com/forum/index.php?topic=12.0

There are 7 versions of Minepeon modified to have Drillbit specific versions of CGMiner amongst the pages in that thread, but there hasn't been an update since the official Builds of CGMiner and BFGMiner which includes Drillbit support have been available.

The Rules file has been modified to include Drillbit devices and I believe we had to start the mining software with sudo privileges.

I have actually signed up to the forums now, the admin sent me a PM.

I will see what I can do to help the drillbit users out.

One question though, I have found the udev rule's and added them to my repo, are you sure you need to run the miner as root after that (sudo).  Con and Kano are very good at making sure that you can privilege separate miner software from kernel code.

Query: is there any way to do the initial MinePeon setup without using the ethernet on my Pi?

You plug in a monitor and keyboard and set it up that way.

I copied the minepeon.dmg file onto a card, popped it into my Pi and nothing shows up on my monitor. Just a black screen. Waited a couple minutes.
Did you used Win32DiskImager.exe (if using Windows) to write the image into the SD? Copy doesn't create the partitions needed for the RPI to start...

Aha. Thanks.

Donations are made to help you not make you rich....

This is just a sad statement from a community member. You obviously have no idea how much time folks invest in these projects.

I have an idea, but donations are to help you with your project not make you rich. Making you rich would insinuate the proceeds of your donations are going directly to your pockets strictly for financial gain rather than towards the combination of the project and your time.

Even if this was the case, i have no problem with it... He is solely putting his time and energy into this project! its not like its a joint collaboration with 5 or 6 developers or the community as a whole, he started it and is maintaining minepeon! If he wants to make money, let him! he definitely deserves it!

with 1500 downloads a week it only needs a few pennies each to give the man some encouragement. Nice program keep up the good work.

if Neil would insert in his signature...
"if you like my work and like to support development please donate to this address: 1xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"
you'll find you may get some extra income donations as some people prefer this.
wouldn't hurt.

PS. how is minepeon port for beaglebone going? will it be possible to get it working with KNC miners, or would you need more info from KNC to achieve this reliably?

Depends on how much your project and time (that you are giving away for free + donations) are worth?

Edit: I'd also say that - on some level - the sheer number of folks benefiting financially from a project like MinePeon should also factor into this...

Just freshly imaged a 2nd SD card I have for testing with the new version and it will not recognize my 2 Thumbs and start up mining operations at all.

This is after I've added my own pool settings and setup the e-mail notification, etc.

switching back to the other working image from the Drillbit forums for now.

Same here, have not been able to use this version with the drillbit thumb or board which are both supported by cgminer/bfgminer in the latest updates.

P.S PLEASE leave some donation time, as I said to another user in another thread;-

I try not to think about it. 1,591 downloads just in the last week alone according to SourceForge, if 1% of people donated 15 minutes of time I would be a rich man. Perhaps it is me they don't like :p .

Maybe its time to give a basic download at SourceForge.

Then give the updates that make it work better, to the users who have donations switched on.

That way rolling updates arrive first to the people keen to see the program develop.
