Linux since 1997 RedHat 4
We've updated the USB LCD script with various improvements. Above is a screenshot of the new version running on my Pi under MinePeon.

I've also created an installation guide for using the script with MinePeon. Code and more information can be found here:

I hope y'all like it, and get some use out of it. Thanks again to Kano for the invaluable help and code contributions.  Smiley

You guys are awesome! Now I had to buy that LCD on eBay, hope is does not need more than 2 weeks to arrive from Hongkong Wink
My second one is in transit, should be here in the next few days.
I noticed (last week) when I ordered the 2nd one, that the ebay page had over 400 sold ... I wonder if most of those were to bitcoin miners Smiley

cardcomm has been working on a python script to the API and I've been testig it for him also on my desktop.
I'll leave him to update you about the script when it's working, but I hacked it up a bit and also got it to display what I wanted Smiley

Hmm maybe I should give this a go - looks pretty smart (or at least will) when the new UI is done.

My ISP requires this option selected: "Outgoing server requires authentication". Without proper authentication, I can't use my ISP's SMTP server to send mail on my behalf.

Same for me.

One can't just simply send an E-Mail via my ESP (E-Mail Service Provider  Grin )

Get a better ISP Tongue .

I will just have to implement SMTP auth then, I was trying to hold off because it is just one more thing to test and I was hoping to get a release out soon.  I will also see what I can do about a test button.

Are ฿itcoins Radioactive?

As MinePeon can send alert messages, as I see in last "beta" version. I tried that feature, with smtp.gmail.com:465 as SMTP server, but I think it would need also a "password" field, to use gmail as sending address.

Not everyone has a gmail account, everyone has an ISP though, just use their SMTP server.

(A test button @ Alert would also be nice, to confirm all mail settings are correct).

Hi Neil (no bolds).

Thanks for the answers. I'll try to behave myself as a human being and not a drag queen...

an export/import settings feature would be nice. . .

Its been a little difficult up until now because the way settings have been stored.  We are nearly there though, most things have been moved into a JSON file, next release will be testing that and it will be very easy to backup/restore.

I know I told that I would never again write any comment about MinePeon in this thread, as Neil doesn't like it,

Don't be such a drama queen.  Also, while you at it STOP putting my name and putting quotes around quoting unnecessary things, it makes you appear creepy and places emphasis on words in a very strange manor.  Reading it makes my head hurt.

but what about using the Google drive to keep a copy of the settings? Backups to the same SD that runs MinePeon are lost if there is a new version of MinePeon or there is a "crash" on that SD.

Google drive over complicates something that does not need to be complicated, the intention is that you will just download you backup or have it emailed to you on a regular basis.

Resolved this "problem", MinePeon could have the option to send a mail to the gmail address configured @ the E-mail field of "Alert" with all the configuration/stats data.

It really should not be a "problem"  providing your ISP lets you send email.

More complicated would be the restore of that data, perhaps a copy/past of a stream of data included in the last backup mail into a restore field, when a new/fresh version of MinePeon started for the first time.

I don't want to make running your miners to be more complicated, it defeats the purpose of MinePeon.

At Pool Status, it would be nice to have a different color for the actual mining pool. I know there are a column with the pool priority, but if the pool has problems and MinePeon shifts to the second, trying to return to the other pool from time to time, it's not visible that shift on the Stats page, as all Alive pools have same color.

I agree, Thomas is working on that now.

But it's only my stupid ideas...

Not all of them, just the first few Tongue .

Honestly though, try writing like a normal human being and you will find you wont wind me up so much (and leave the drama out altogether).

If this is even possible with the current setup, Rig Hash Rate falls below XXMh/s restart service.  I have trouble with one or three FPGA board getting sick in BFGMiner and it need a soft kick to get mining again.

Next version (very soon now, Thomas and I are just fighting over how to store settings Tongue ) three things will be watched by a monitor process.

1. The amount of devices running.

2. The hashrate.

3. Your pools.

When MinePeon detects something wrong with any of the above it will send you an email telling you about the problem, furthermore if you tick a "Attempt automatic recovery" it will;-

1. Send the miner API a restart to try and fix it

2. Failing a miner restart MinePeon will kill -9 the miner and reload it

3. Failing that MinePeon will reboot itself to attempt a fix

All of those actions will be 5 minutes apart, one after another.  If it cannot fix the problem like if there is a dead miner it will just try to do the best it can mining with the remaining devices.

If it actually does manage to recover it sends you an email saying so.

Neil thats awesome - I too have problems in this version with my FPGA hardware. It seems that it will loose connection to some FPGA & finally from time to time was stop working (just Web-Interface & mostly the miner runs). Only fix is a reboot of the whole rig and after max. 48h it`s down again...  Huh

I had this never in newer older releases & finally I had really bad downtime last 2 weeks. Think that I will split them to more Raspberry Pi hosts to find maybe the problem as now it`s not analysable for me. Loosing connections & crashing webserver with no idea why this is happen.

It looks to me like you are calculating (accept/reject) / 100,  rather than (reject/accept) * 100.

Are you taking the reciprocal somewhere? Wink

EDIT: Same bug affects error rate too.

I think there's a bug in the Minepeon 0.2.2 status screen:  How is the "Reject" column in "Device Status" calculated? The percentages seem rather high on my system:

That does look odd, I cannot look at it at the moment but the equation from git is;-

    $devShareTotal = $dev['Accepted'] + $dev['Rejected'] + $dev['HardwareErrors'];
    $rejectedErrorPercent = round(($dev['Rejected'] / $devShareTotal) * 100, 2);
    $hwErrorPercent = round(($dev['HardwareErrors'] / $devShareTotal) * 100, 2);
