We are talking about projects that used ETH codebase with a slight change right? then you can try to read this thread:
List of Ethereum forks
Point to note, there are a lot of them in the ecosystem not limited to the list mentioned above on the link.
I think investing your money on Tomochain is not a bad idea, because it fully supports what ETH supports right now. Not to mention it also has a staking system on its network which allows its users to get passive income from holding it.

Another good question, so I did some research and found these forks:

https://www.forks.net/list/Ethereum/

However, I never heard any of them, so I would say that there's no good ETH forks so far, and just like BTC the one and original still takes the interest of most investors.

Wait, the only one that ring a bell to me is EtherGold, but it is still way behind its previous all time high, like -60%.
OP I suggest you choose only ETC, I was rekt investing on EtherZero, that project is a very bad one and probably other Ethereum forks, the best fork of ethereum is ethereum classic, even the once highly recommended Ethergold is now way down compare to ATH

Ethereum Classic is the only legit, well built Ethereum fork I've ever known, others are trash jobs, mostly pump and dump projects, you can consider Tezos coin too, very promising it is, it will definitely grow bigger in near future

AFAIK if ETC is the only fork of ethereum
Actually when I'm new to cryptos I have thought of this as well. But after someone corrected me and after reading some insightful materials to support the statement.
ETH is the actual fork which means ETC was the original but ETH is the known and widely supported by us.

The Ethereum community was in an uproar. The developers and community came together and decided that the best course of action was to enact a fork that reverted this enormous theft. This forked chain is what became Ethereum (ETH) and the old chain, where the hack was never reversed, is Ethereum Classic (ETC).

I won't suggest you a ETH fork as all of them are useless. Though ETH itself is a fork from ETC, they have become the largest utility coin.
Every other ETH fork after that are just a gimmick to gain popularity. And good developers have stopped forking coins.
If you want competitors for ETH, new chains like Cardano, EOS and to some extent Tron could be a good option.
1. Not all Eth Fork are useless
2. Ethereum is not a fork from ETC, you got it all wrong, Ethereum Classic is the fork from ethereum.
3. Ethereum Classic (ETC) is good enough for OP to consider, we also have DAO which is another excellent fork of Ethereum

Does anybody know of any good ETH forks worth investing these days? I've previously invested into Expanse, only to lose a substantial amount of money because of the ever-decreasing prices on the market. I have some ETC left after the hard fork on 2016, but I'm tempted to sell it in exchange for other smart contract platforms with greater tech and features. While TRON and EOS are not ETH forks, they certainly look like a better option than ETH-based forks for long term investing.

Still, I'm on the hunt for good ETH forks that are popular in the mainstream world today. I plan to invest a little into each fork for diversification. If anyone knows a list of good ETH forks, please let me know. Any suggestions or recommendations will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Smiley

ETH has tons of forks but ETC is the only one that you should invest in rest all are either dead or scam.
But I would suggest not to invest in any forks right now 'coz with the rumour of ETH 2.0 we might see a good movement on ethereum.

AFAIK if ETC is the only fork of ethereum, other than it can be considered as a new smartcontract platform. It looks like there was no choice of other than ETC. Isn't it better to put it all into the new coin with new tech? my choice was tezos.
