Pretty cool thread, I knew about most of the people listed in the OP, that they'd mentioned bitcoin before.

I'm going to veer slightly off topic here but both Ashton Kutcher & Mike Tyson have mentioned & have been/are involved in bitcoin.

Kind of interesting, no?

In my country majority of political leaders probably has never heard of Bitcoins and wouldn't know w to do with it. In general, I think that most world leaders stil don't take Bitcoin seriously and just think they will not have to bother with it because it will disappear i the meantime.

-snip-

It is funny how Donald Trump hasn't mentioned Bitcoin, even though he has an altcoin named after him. (namely TRUMP).  Smiley

Having an altcoin named after you is not really a reason to mention bitcoin, let alone become interested in in it. There have been a few known people who had coins named after them actually mention it (Kanye, Ron Paul, Max Keiser), but most of them never even know it exists.

What is the general way their are talking about bitcoin or blockchain technology? Positive, neutral or negative?

It depends what country you're asking about, but in Canada it seems to mostly be positive to be honest. Of course there are always people trying to discredit bitcoin by saying it's for criminals but what can you do?

You should add the video, where Andreas talked with the Canadian senate or Parliament, because that was a significant moment for Bitcoin. I cannot find it now, if anyone can help searching for it, and post it? Since that event, things in Canada turned and there are a more open-minded approach to Bitcoin. ^smile^

I think it's pretty clear that the great majority of world leaders is aware of Bitcoin. However it's unclear how closely they follow the topic and what their attitude towards it is. I would assume that many of them are aware that Bitcoin challenges the status quo of central banking and might be a risk for maintaining their position of power.

At the same time I think, that world leaders still greatly overestimate their power to influence the progress of Bitcoin and underestimate Bitcoin's power to change the world forever. An indication for this attitude are the initiatives for centrally controlled blockchains - essentially altcoins, were all of Bitcoin's advantages are stripped off. I think they view Bitcoin still as a "controllable threat".

I really hope that Bitcoin technology will continue to improve to be able to withstand the attacks that will undoubtedly follow by those in power when they realize that things might get out of hand for them...

The revolution will be monetized!
honestly i don't know if Barrack Obama ........
watch this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFku1YugfS0 found he says something like this at exact 1:04 minute
"Everybody walking around with swiss bank account in their pocket"

I think he is saying this to bitcoin wallet, he have talked in detail about encryption and he think this as threat to economy. I Find this his intention is to not support bitcoin like currency.

Good lord! swiss bank accounts are only for the rich. If the little man gets this who will pay all the taxes?!?! The wealthy!? Certainly not. You poor people need to get back to your credit  cards and work to enrich the investors. Your job is to remain poor.

Interesting thread. You could add some names in the banking industry such as Blythe Masters and the douchebag Jamie Dimon. Im pretty sure those people have a role in leading where the world is going, maybe moreso than presidents. They are anti Bitcoin and they believe in "blockchain technology" of course.

Need some spare btc for a new PC
I think old government of our country don't even know about bitcoin. Our country needs more elder and new generation guy to run the nation. Old man should give up the system they are useless they don't know many new technology.

Same here, we got the department for cyber criminal last year or smthn like that. Cheesy so highly doubt that they will say something about it, they probably have heard about it but it's far away to be spoken of, there's too much of bigger problems to address first.

This is nice informative list for those who want  to find out for some reason which world leaders have said "bitcoin" in public. Its kinda pointless only mentions bitcoin doesn't mean they mean to do anything with it. Still a good list.

I dont have another list of leaders to add in your list. The name on my list is already on your list like barrack obama on number 1 and the prime minister of canada and the prime minister of United Kingdom. Though we have the list I just suppose that they will support bitcoins like what the government of Chine made in their place making the owning of  bitcoins a civil right.

The Prime Minister Of Canada Justin Trudeau's brother haha. So I'm sure at Sunday dinner it's been mentioned by him at the very least.
