I see 50%+ rise in Litecoin price in 1 day.

Does anything changed or happened today to justify this bull rise?

I believe the FUD concerning BTC has brought money to LTC, as well as the growing understanding that most of the altcoins today have very little future. Does anyone honestly believe a coin named after an internet meme will be taken seriously in the next few years? A coin like litecoin however not only sounds professional and resembles the biggest cryptocurrency in the world (bitcoin), it also is technologically better than most coins today. LTC not only can become an adopted online currency used by millions, but it can also be used as a low risk investment for beginner investors who want to see occasional spikes which can give them some profit, but not give them the risk of low drops. I personally believe in LTC as much as i believe in BTC, and a 50$ LTC by the end of this year is very plausible, more plausible than a 2000$ BTC in my opinion. Don't forget that in order to have a 2K bitcoin, people need to buy a 1999 bitcoin. If people don't expect the price to rise, people won't buy. A 1000% increase for a 7$ coin (70$) is in most peoples eyes a far more plausible scenario than a 1000$ coin rising with 100% (2000$ coin).

I agree on you with that.
Also transaction times are very long with BTC, it took me approximately 3 hours to send and receive BTC. Don't think the transaction times will be shorter in the near future.

All of sudden alt-coin season started any particular reason behind it.
Why some alt coin are showing so much of strength.
Its not surprising anymore and it does really happen on cryptoworld on which whales would decide on what coin they would like to pump which we could able to witness that theres a huge spike specially on low valued coins and also to those top altcoin as of now.

Let's see what'll happen to Litecoin, because it had a +370% spike at GDAX some minutes ago. Just wondering why out of the sudden it went up because it was very stable aroun $3-4 last year, even this up until today.

The Litecoin network is designed to produce 84 million currency units.
One of Litecoin's goals was to provide a mining algorithm that runs at the same time and on the same hardware used to mine bitcoins. With the addition of specialized ASICs to Bitcoin, Litecoin continues to meet these goals.

it is always a matter of time and turn.
it is not yet litecoin's turn to rise. right now other altcoins are getting pumped and going to the moon. after some time passes and the bubbles in all those other altcoins burst, traders sell their coins (eth, dash, monero, steem, ripple,...) and take the money out.
many will invest that money back in bitcoin and many will continue trading other altcoins, that money will be distributed among many alts.

the pumpers however will take the money and the profit they got from the pump to the next altcoin to pump. this can be litecoin. and when they do, price will go back to ATH and higher depending on situation.

Accumulation on Polo is on average 1000 BTC a day...so LTC will fly soon

Good observations. wonder if you calculated that with ZX Spectrum.

Anyway, Litecoin is like Punk. and we all know that Punk is not dead.

May it reach half of its ATH it will be a stunner.
I dont know why the chinese keep that coin alive...

Chinese big exchanges only have 2 coins and nothing else: BTC and LTC
this is one of the reasons for the big pumps.

but also litecoin is not as bad as many think. it actually offers good things. the developers are active and good and after all these years they are still improving the coin! and with the latest upgrade to SegWit (which is not yet activated) I am sure this coin will see lots of changes.

oh and it is now worth $5.5 Wink

Well let's hope they add ETH soon Smiley

I'd like to see LiteCoin do well and begin to rise like some of the other altcoins. I do wonder if lightcoin will get a boost with the congestion of Bitcoin's network. Perhaps it will also receive some adoption as Bitcoin begins to get it. Lets hope for the best and see where this goes.

Well, I have felt a bit like kicking myself when looking at DASH and ETH have rose, and I can't see why the same won't happen for one of the few alts I have a small sum in. Like many have posted, it's well established (I say this chiefly on the number of LTC faucets out there and the sites I use all accept LTC) and development is alive and well.

At worst, it won't be a dead coin in 2017!

How much life does LTC even have left? It markets it self solely as a currency, it will always be looked at as secondary at best to BTC and Dash has made it completely obsolete in its functionality. It seems that its being held together by a stubborn community and 4 year bag holders.

Who knows what the future hold for LTC, this is crypto anything can happen in an instant. And if 2017 is not the year of LTC, then the community can still wait for another year.

I do not think there is much time left for litecoin to pay. It used to be the second coin, now, it is 6th.

an online currency faster than bitcoin will be popular when all the other shitcoins are gone. I honestly expect people to look for something that looks professional. Other coins like Dash sound like scams, and coins like dogecoin sound like jokes. Litecoin resembles bitcoin in a lot of ways, and the security bitcoin will bring will add to the trust people will have in litecoin. Most people don't look for risk and high reward, they look for stability with small risk and medium reward, and litecoin has been rather stable showing occasional spikes that can generate profit. In my opinion it's the best option besides BTC, definitely compared to the coins that have been pumped like a rocket. What rises fast, drops fast.

Its probably worth making a small investment, although I think its kind of a long-shot.
Litecoin is stable and has decent development, but that doesn't mean much in altcoins right now.
The only thing that matters is marketing and hype. 99% of altcoin investors are fucking sheep that just buy whatever coin is trending on the exchanges.

as far as a pump is concerned you are right, the development and stability or even good code and good features doesn't matter at all. we are clearly seeing this coins like ethereum that are being pumped.

but as far as a solid coin is concerned all the above matter. it is because of the active developing team that litecoin is still alive. it is also having a very stable price in the range of $3 - $4 and that has to count for something.

but all that aside, you have forgotten than Chinese are pumping litecoin and they have been out of the game for some time. with their exchanges starting up again we may expect a nice rise.
