Or lite coin will sky jump.

Seems like doge and lite will merge or they will create new coin.

http://www.virtfund.com/news-and-analysis/doge-may-soon-allow-merge-mining-with-litecoin

Merge mining != new coin

It's just a way for Doge to protect its falling hash rate.

Ruff day for litecoin.

So they basically get free dogecoins for nothing that they can dump on the market instantly and buy more LTC

How is that a ruff day for litecoin?

please, elaborate

If anything, Litecoin benefits a lot from this because the gullible newbies holding Dogecoin will need the litecoin network to survive.

Imo all "old" altcoins forgot to develop their coins, hoped they will reach the BTC value one day and didn't implement new features. Features we are seeing now with newer coins ... Bitcoin only has the bonus to be the very first crypto ever ...
+1000

Its nothing new and stated 1000000 times before, but its the truth.

And it's a real shame. If I recall correctly, altcoin devs were supposed to carve out new paths of innovation that the necessarily protective Bitcoin devs couldn't.

Now this old ideal has been realized in many altcoins, but all but a few start off with a new innovation and then chug along complacently behind the wake of Bitcoin. Nxt is the only exception to the rule that I know of; I'm sure there are others - but not that many others.

Its still chugging on, expect a pump soon. Too much money invested in it to fail overnight, though it will slip down unless it can change into something useful.
It's not gonna change for sure. Looks like dev isn't anymore interested about this coin. So it's almost a dead coin. All we've right now is hope.

Litecoin holders don't control anything. Miners are the ones who are in control in PoW cryptos.

I think even the idea that Litecoin should be improved is offensive to Litecoiners. Maybe their logic is: "we got this far doing nothing, it would be wrong to mess with a good thing!".

That is exactly what most of them seem to think.

There are like one or two people in the Litecoin community trying to actually get something going. But no one seems to care unfortunately. Sad

yes ,I think the same thing that you think  Undecided .

Truer than you think. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" becomes more compelling the more valuable 'it' is. That's why so may formerly hot innovative companies wind up losing their market dominance and flounder around before being humbled by a changing marketplace. They're mind-locked into their formerly market-dominant 'it.' Cases in point: RIM/Blackberry, Nokia.

But not in all cases, interestingly enough. Look at all the complaints over the years about Microsoft, a company that just keeps chuggin' along.

Microsoft has been trying desperately to keep up though. Cloud services, Windows Mobile, tablets ect. Even though they haven't been too successful recently they are trying to stay relevant.

The once first altcoin, its just another altcoin.

It´s quite ridicolous that still holds that very big second market cap.

Network effect, there will always need to be a number #2, its still hugely traded

Maybe so, but it does give an insight into how people value currencies. "Currency ABCD will be valuable tomorrow because it's valuable today, was valuable yesterday,..."

Interesting. In real time, Litecoin lets us see a kind of inertia or legacy effect acting on a currency to keep up its value even though it's been overshadowed by others in almost all areas except price.

Now that I mention it, the above might have a minor bearing on the good ol' greenback...

Litecoin was just a clone of another altcoin if I remember correcly. Tenebrix/Fairbrix I think.

Yup, it was a clone of the first scrypt coin, the first altcoin was Namecoin.

I'm nearly 95% in litecoin with a few % left to convert but enjoy reading this thread every few days and soaking up the negative sentiment, everyone does really understand why that is right?  Cheesy

The risk is too high to put most of your money in litecoin, why not put more in bitcoin?
