If I would be to give any feedback it would be for the interviewer to slow down a little bit, he's interupting Gavin a whole lot, which is not a good way to interview people. Apart from that the interview wasn't too bad.

The interrupting was annoying  - shutup and let the geek talk!  LaPorte seems overeager to prove that he knows things...

Sure the CIA could recruit Gavin - they know how to be "persuasive". I suspect that "turning" him is not worth the risk of a backfire, so they probably just read his email and sniff his broadband connection 24x7...

just sell half a third of your bitcoins everytime the price doubles triples. this way you never run out of bitcoins and get rich.

But y'know what my big takeaway was?  I'm like 90% sure that Gavin knows who Satoshi is.

90%?  lol - I'd say it's more like 99.9999% sure that Gavin knows Satoshi quite well (who he is and his favorite drink etc.)  No - I'm not saying Gavin is Satoshi but it's quite clear he knows who Satoshi is/was

I hope he is. That would be as genius as Bitcoin itself.

16:35: "your ISP knows who you are"

is this really true?

I assume he's just referring to them knowing who is behind an IP address.

yes, but can they identify your payment?
I think they can not identify receiving payments. And sending only, if they would log which
transaction hashes you have send, but not received before. So only if they log your traffic and you dont use
tor, they can find out your sending payments. (I guess)

I would assume that is correct, I got the feeling he was just giving a vague "bitcoin is not necessarily anonymous as-is" response for the average user / person who doesn't know what they are doing. It didn't seem he was making any deep insight into some kind of flaw only he knows about.

re: the interview, I found it VERY interesting that Gavin seems to be interested in Zerocoin.  I really hope that Zerocoin gets fleshed out, and that the core developers of bitcoin are able to incorporate it into Bitcoin.

Here is a video of Gavin from back in 2011. He mentions Satoshi.

The audio is terrible, but the content is interesting.

If Gavin knows who Satoshi is or not is really not so interesting imo, what's interesting is that Bitcoin was created. If Satoshi wanted to stay anonymous, he probably took all steps necessary to do so.

Watched the video. It was pretty interesting, even though there wasn't much said that was new to me. I'm glad to see Leo Laporte is giving Bitcoin a chance. I'll send a few bitcents his way as thanks for all the years I've been listening to his "netcasts".
