higher prices came when btc was raging and was priced high, seems to be less interest from members outside of the btc community these days for all btc related names.

new price is 2btc for this name, at current price of bitcoin

Thanks everyone for your input on this name.  I obviously know it's value and that's the reason I turned down offers close to $1000 for it.  I do believe this is a real rare opportunity for anyone who wants to start or has an existing bitcoin related website or blog to drive more quality traffic to their asset.

you turned down offers close to $1,000 and now you are accepting for $xxx - $x,xxx offers.
"Still looking for a new owner.  I am open to your $xxx - $x,xxx offers.

Highest offer from user here is $675."

what happened?

The owner of LocalBitcoins.com is fully aware of this name, i used it as a redirect to their affiliate section for some time.
Can you give us some info on how much you make on affiliate, or how many views or refers you get? If the domain gets viewed many times a day it will be MUCH more popular as people know that even if their site is trash there always will be people visiting it.

Why would they buy it? They can just go to a court and get this domain for a few dollars - just like microsoft.com took over mikerowesoft.com

Keep in mind that if you buy this domain name LBC can take it from you at any time.

Possible, but unlikely. Other variations of Localbitcoins.com (e.g. Localbitcoins.org) don't seem to be owned by them. If someone tried to put up a confusing website at Local-bitcoins.com and it became popular, then it could get shut down but I doubt they would bother if the domain was simply parked. Same deal with Mikerowesoft.com. Had it simply been a parked page, Microsoft wouldn't have cared. But in that case, it was an actual website.

And it would cost WAY more than a few dollars to get the domain. The cost for filing a UDRP is approximately $1,300 and that's not including attorney fees.

EDIT: I see chmod755 has already mentioned this.

Yes of course, sometimes people will accidental put this. I believe localbitcoins.com has other domains pointing, maybe old companies they owned and lost. Can someone remind me of any domains that point to localbit coins.com?

Localbitcoin.com, Localbitcoin.co, and Localbitcoins.co all redirect to Localbitcoins.com.

It's definitely possible and it doesn't matter if the company is small. 1500 USD is still cheaper than 2200 USD.
But I doubt that localbitcoins.com is copyrighted by them. Also yes it is 1.5k I see from the URL, but I don't think it would be worth the time also, since they have to get someone to do all the legal stuff and submit the claims and all that. I seriously doubt localbitcoins would want to do that.

There is no Trademark on the term "Local Bitcoins".

I have created an auction for this name on Flippa.com, if any of you would like to bid i may let it go cheaper depending on where it gets to by the end of the auction.

Cheers

You could probably sell it to localbitcoins.com for very large as well, they will likely want to buy it.

Why would they buy it? They can just go to a court and get this domain for a few dollars - just like microsoft.com took over mikerowesoft.com

Keep in mind that if you buy this domain name LBC can take it from you at any time.
Really? I don't think this is possible. I see people owning sites very similar. Also localbitcoins is not really comparable to microsoft, they are much smaller and I doubt they would waste the time and money getting this domain through the legal process.

Chances are you should just list this in the auction thread to see if someone wants it.

I stopped buying and flipping domains after most are waste of time. But thats just the hard reality.

It's a VERY good domain name but the problem is it is very related to localbitcoins.com it is a rare opportunity and I would expect maybe some big copmanies to pick it up, its not your average crypto domain. I would accept all offers above 2k, that sounds about right to me. How much did you get it for?

You get some traffic from people making a mistake and wanted to go to localbitcoins or if you are very well referenced. Also, you could sell to localbitcoins.
