That is all great if you knot it BEFORE you have a problem...

I don't understand why only bitcoin... i have messages with my DOGE address, and have requested if I could use that...  and again, not received the courtesy of a reply.

So we have an ugly monopoly here, and the "customer service" is well, you know........

so be it... each of us gets to act the way we wish, so hopefully they are pleased with themselves...  i've finally realized what a waste of time this has been.   Sad.

Thanks everyone.

The reason is it would be horrible to verify if people were allowed to use alt-coins.  I'm sure some would say but only allow these altcoins and pick a few, but that list would grow and grow.  It's much easier just to use BTC as the standard. I did see two post's with what look to be BTC address's in your posts:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.7444846 - 13y53bBPrMNNCHjKEyU2DKA2HhK2ozyejZ
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.11138469 - 1F2zgvhtV5as3JPnUMGBgDLgNh3wDDeF7K

Are you able to sign with either of those addresses they appear to be BTC?

Thanks again so much for your efforts to help!

Those unfortunately aren't BTC addys.   The first one is "1" coin address which was an attempt at using 3s algorithm; the second is for "credits" (CRE) coin rather than BTC.

I think I'm out of luck...   but of course there's always hope  Wink

Amazing that this continues, like no one minds the store... what if your bank (or most any other business) took this long to change your password, or reply to you.......

not customer friendly, unfortunately.

There must be a better way, guys.

This will continue like this until you provide a signed message from any bitcoin address that was staked in your account earlier. See, this proves that you are the owner of the account. Since you don't have any staked address, I am afraid that anyone can help you.

Thats why every account should be staked in with a bitcoin address.

Might as well continue with Winmon as a 2nd account for now.
At least you can post until someone gets around to unlocking
your account. Or, buy an account (yes frowned upon but common)
then, post that you bought it because yours is locked (not banned)
and, you did not want to start as a newbie.

Is it really worth it

To get back your old account: https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/binmon-220123 I would think so with being Sr. Member that is not something you are going to be able to get back to quick.

Again it can be a slow process getting your account back,  password reset via secret question espically seem to be in many cases as it is seen as "known" I think.  And I could be wrong on that.  But You really need to go to the mindset of bumping and emailing once a week, and expect it to take some time.  Eventually you should get it back if your provide everything needed.   But you do have to wait.

If you want to start over... you could.  But with a Sr. account I would not.

Really gets tiring waiting  Sad

This is the hardest part that is solved in the forum, sometime because of the time that dont have the administrators and sometimes when users do not provide necessary information. Send a message to theymos. I have seen people that become full member rank waiting to get their old account back like in this case: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.13660788

I think a important part to is not to message them to much as they are very  busy on Admins.  I know the waiting is a pain but I would send message and bump thread once a week.   In these cases daily bumps will turn into a lot... and I don't think it will get you action any sooner.

So best of luck but it could be something that takes weeks, not in the day's.  So I suggest going to weekly bump instead of daily.

I may be totally out of luck...

If it has to be a BTC address that I posted, I can't find one.  BUT why isn't the same thing true for any coin?  that is, I posted a doge address, and I can sign a doge message in that wallet, doesn't that prove my identity just like using btc would prove it?

and as time went on, i thought for sure it was forbidden to post addresses......so hmmmm.  that would be a nice catch 22.

anyway, time will tell, or i'll end up starting over......

Thanks!

The only remaining piece of the puzzle to me is how do i do that if i can't logon to check for such message?  sorry to be so thick.

Normally you know if you have posted a post with a BTC address.  If you know you have you can go through your posts here and look for it: https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/binmon-220123

If you have not posted an address you can sign with... chances are your out of luck

Wow, you DO know you war around bitcointalk !!

I see some messages where i posted my wallet addy, but none art bitcoin, but altcoins... hopefully that will work!

Thanks so much for showing me how to sort out my posts!  I have a lot to learn!

I messed up my password and locked my account.

I was changing my browser and had forgotten my password, and made too many attempts, and this resulted in my account being banned.

username:  binmon

Trying to get help in removing the ban.

Thank you

Is it true? I also have similar experienced , but my account don't not get banned. Because after trying approximately 8 attempts, I decided to use the recovery by email. Maybe you can contact moderator from your country or global moderator. thank you

OP's account is not banned it is locked due to security.   It happens if you use secret question to reset password, account is locked:
May 29, 2016, 08:30:17 PM - binmon - password reset via secret question
May 29, 2016, 08:30:17 PM - binmon - password reset via secret question

A moderator will not be able to unlock needs to be an Admin.  He needs to find message with a BTC address he can sign with as mentioned before.

Still waiting for months to go by quickly....   Wink

Can't figure out where i might have a signed message, so it may not matter....

I would let it go and only pump every week or so.  You are not looking for a signed message but a  post where you post a BTC address you posted that you can sign with now to prove account ownership.

So look for if any of you posts have a BTC address posted.   Here is a good topic on signing a message - https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/how-to-sign-a-message-990345

I was not aware that trying your password too many times would ban your account. Is this true?

Vegas
If I had to guess then I would say that the OP probably clicked on "forgot password" and attempted to reset his PW via his security question.

The OP will most likely need to provide a signed message from an address associated with his account to get it back. In the meantime he is free to make another account and/or use another account and use it freely. (this is assuming that the reason for his ban was in fact because he reset his PW and not because he broke some other rule)

It appears that is true - https://bitcointalk.org/seclog.php :
May 29, 2016, 08:30:17 PM - binmon - password reset via secret question
May 29, 2016, 08:30:17 PM - binmon - password reset via secret question

Sadly no matter what it seems cant get info to all people don't use secret question to reset or you will get account security locked.  Which then takes a admin to unlock it.

Idk Is this a kind of bug or what? Becuase it has long happened this not been resolved.
When the forum was hacked last year the hashes to passwords were leaked and the plaintext password reset questions were also leaked. It was recommended for people to change their passwords and remove the password reset question. As a result, anyone who attempts to reset their password via their secret question will automatically get banned until they can prove they are the owner of their account to an admin ( and until an admin is able to review everything).

Why on earth is that thing still there if all it is doing is closing your account?
That sounds like a good question to PM and/or otherwise ask theymos about.

I also got locked my account once. Badbear responded in a short time and solved the situation very well.

Also pm'ed Theymos but he didn't respond. Your chances with badbear is a lot higher i say.

But my situation happened almost a year ago.
That was when they had time on their hands and people weren't used to get their accounts locked every now and then.In the OP's case ,I think his account is mostly banned and chances of recovering are zero.

Why don't you open another account in the mean time. I hope your rank in the old account is not yet high Undecided

If it is, you would have to PM theymos and bad bear as it has been said and wait for some months..

There really is only one way you can recover your account, pm theymos and badbear about the situation and make sure you provide a signed message from an address linked with the binmon account to prove ownership. After a few months you will get a response. Yes, months

omg, I'm too old to wait months, lol

and I probably did not do "a signed message..."  because I don't know what you mean...but I appreciate your trying to help!!

Thank you!

Signed message is best everyone should stake an address.  If you did not do it did you do any deals on forum where you happened to post a bitcoin address?  If so sign a message with that address and point to it.

Staking is best though due to someone quoting it next, so a "bad guy" cant change it.  But that does not really apply in this case.

Well, there is one thing I do know.........

This is a real pain.

Guess this comes as a result of being lazy and storing the pw in the browser, so one tends to forget it....

So, a take-off from the TV ad:   "What's in your password window"?     Make sure you know!
