Definitely Unobtanium - UNO

low supply, low inflation, strong community.  pretty much everyone who's into UNO is in it for the long term

haha, nice.  good bump @rojan

so our coin has doubled in BTC value in this amount of time and we're both still here.  and look at the lists of trash everyone is hyping on the front page of this.
time is on our side in the Unobtanium Community

It's 5 months later... which is about 3 years in crypto (according to "dog years" criteria).  I have a couple follow-up comments about this topic about long term crypto investments.  I actually used some spare BTC to buy AppleByte (ABY) on Bittrex earlier today.  Also this topic was started on 16 Oct 2014 - on that day Unobtanium (UNO) was trading around 0.0060 BTC.  Should be interesting to see what happens in the next 5-6 months.

BTC or create own coin and profit from premine or ICO to "hire more developers"

thats the ONLY way to make money. i doubt anyone would take the advice though too many lazy fat fucks in crypto

who pretend to have morals but would squeel like little piglets if i unearthed their child porn stash and threatened to turn their overweight ass in to the fbi

I don't trust any altcoin so far.

Here's my motto: IF A COIN IS TRADED WITH BITCOIN IT'S POSSIBLE SCAM, If you can buy a coin with flat money but bitcoin, then I can say it's ok to invest. So far only litecoin was able to do this rule of mine.

Also, if you do want to consider investments, you might just consider something else apart from cryptocurrency. Most of the coins are not good as a long term investment option. And rather than being disappointed, you might just invest in a physical product like gold, for which either the prices will keep going up or fall only a bit. IMO that will be a much safer investment.

For sure... I am invested heavily in gold as a long term investment. I'm not going to invest much in alt currencies, but I feel like they have a lot of potential, most of my crypto investment will be in bitcoin though.

You will have to define long term. If that means 2-3 years, then maybe yes, there are above Crypto as mentioned above. If you want to hold a coin beyond that, then I am sorry, I don't think there is anything now which can match the capability of BTC. Most of these shit coins are only useful for 3-6 months. You best bet would be to look for asset/commodity backed coins like SYNC, URO, CANN etc.

no no no, that is not your best bet, they are not actually backed. don't do it.
