I know that this could be achieved with Maidsafe, but the SAFE Network hasn't gone to mainnet (or released yet) and it would make me have to wait some time for it to happen. Unless there is a way which I am not aware of, then it would be fantastic.

If storing data onto the blockchain (like files or documents, etc) is already possible, can you please let me know which coin or what method could be used to achieve this?

For storing public nn confidential files. I would suggest you use Github.com.

You could also try drive.google.com (google drive), they allow for free site storeage when the storage is made with their docs/sheets or presentations.

Also, sites.google.com is another good optioin for copying and pasting data too.
You can also hold the sites privately and i is good to store.

I think you can set up messages on transactions that can store this information.

SIA

I saw this one but it is still in its beta release. I am hoping for a more stable version since it has a few bugs.

Datacoin (https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/anndatacoin-datacoin-blockchain-start-announcement-minor-code-upd-logo-325735) and Strojcoin (+ its siblings) all tried or actively doing that, so you can try to get some more details from the devs (if they are still reachable).

These ones look interesting. I was looking more forward into Storjcoin which has more interesting features. Will be awaiting its release. If there are other methods to accomplish this as well, please feel free to share them here.  Smiley

Storing data on the blockchain is and must be expensive to prevent blockchain bloat.
You can store small files on the Nxt blockchain. SIA is good for distributed storage (not on the blockchain but better than traditional storage venues).
