I think Datacoin was intended to be a data repository for free trustworthy and a currency to pay for this memory. Money transfer is not the first purpose Datacoin. I do not consider blockchain where data storage is heavy as a video file: this is too expensive. Instead, I propose to store in torrents Datacoin, certificates, maybe some HTML pages and other types of information.

Is there a nice, complete list of dependencies for the Datacoin fork on GitHub?  I'm stuck in dependency hell just trying to get it working.

Japan is one of the first countries where it will be possible to fully use DateCoin application. DateCoin project team got acquainted with investors and market features of this country in March 2018, within the framework of Teamz business summit, which was held in the capital of Japan-Tokyo. The market research in Japan showed high prospects for the development of the dating industry in the region, which served as the basis for the decision to introduce the application DateCoin to this market.

New Thread

Just to repeat - Datacoin has a new thread here:   https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ann-datacoin-censorship-free-data-storage-2188160.
It is up to you where you post, but I will post here to ensure awareness of the new thread.
We cannot edit this old thread because the developer left.  The people who are developing the coin now had to start a new thread.

Thank you

Can someone succinctly explain the difference between Streamr and IOTA? I think I read Streamr doesn't store the unnecessary data long-term?

Wrong thread, sir. Datacoin started 2013 and still goes. https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ann-datacoin-censorship-free-data-storage-2188160

Streamer is a few months old but they used the same name. It shows how well they prepared for ICO if they did not even check the name.

Hello,

I understand that Android wallets are light clients...

From what I understand so far, the gist of it is SPV, "Simplified Payment Verification" and the way it is implemented in Bitcoin Wallet is to be able to reach out to full nodes which have txindex enabled in the coin daemon configuration file.

I understand the process of compiling an Android wallet (with something like QtCreator) and running the simulation on an Android emulator.  But the current Linux code will have to be modified for Android.

It turns out with Qt 5, the Datacoin source code needed modification to compile for OS X too.  I had to patch in some updates from Bitcoin v0.8.6 (really Litecoin v0.8.7.5) in order to even get a Datacoin-HP-Qt.dmg to build.  Sad part is, even after Datacoin compiled without errors or warnings (because of patching), when I went to start it in OS X, the icon had the white circle with the line through it designating incompatibility.  So its kinda back to the drawing board there -- and I would estimate if you're using Qt Creator to build for Android you may have similar experiences if going with stable Qt v5.

Do you have experience compiling Android wallets?

There are a handful of folks who have real-world experience forking the Bitcoin Wallet for SPV on other blockchains.
This includes tweaking Bitcoin Wallet for various proof-of-work algorithms, various difficulty adjustment algorithms and accounting for Hard Forks.
They're over here at Hash Engineering Solutions.
Their efforts in the greater Bitcoin Talk community are somewhat chronicled in this thread.

Its really going to be a struggle to maintain a v0.8.3 Bitcoin clone like Datacoin without first updating the core, whole hog.
We can do simple updates - and commit them to Graham's repository which fix UPnP vulnerabilities and add a full set of hard-coded IP addresses in the PnSeed[] array so that people get 8 connections right away -- and we can cleanup strings and graphics -- without to much effort; but the significant thing is that we have inherited technical debt which must be repaid in order to make future strides towards the mainstream.

Best Regards,
-Chicago

I have sent an email to the Coinomi team to see if we can add Datacoin to their Android wallet.

I understand that Android wallets are light clients, and that they will run the datacoin daemon on their servers - basically the same as an exchange.

This is an example of them adding IXCoin:  https://github.com/Coinomi/coinomi-android/commit/0be43f98f88041adf91ef8f3adfc703caa7d181b

Any thoughts/ideas/criticism of this idea is most welcome.  I will repeat this post in the new OP:  https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ann-datacoin-censorship-free-data-storage-2188160
good news about that, why you have not create self wallet for this
