Hey guys, I'm fairly new to all of this and I need some opinions. I realize nobody can predict the future......hear all, trust nothing. If you guys had 1 bitcoin to invest in an alt coin. What would you choose and why?

I'm not afraid of risk.

I was reading about Byteball and it seems interesting. I'm not expert and most of this stuff is over my head.

about byteball coin youre only linked bitcoin addres in 1 bitcoin balance to byteball addres
iam recomeded is iconomi coin, icomi coin ico selling price average 20k satoshi, this now price 42k satoshi,
iconomi the best ico selling in 2016, so potential incraese until reach over 100k or 1 dollar in 2017
if trading iconomi you can trade in kraken

Looking at the past perfomance of some coins. I will advice you to invest 0.1BTC in all the top 10 coins, and take your capital when the price double up. Most if not all the all coins in top 20 this time last year really perform very well.

this is the only sound advice you're gonna get in the place like this. forget individual coins. forget fundamentals. there are none.

pumpers move from coin to coin. they don't give a shit what they are or what they claim they can do. if you'd done this on poloniex last year you would've done very well.

if i had 1 bitcoin and i was new to trading, i would hold on to that 1 bitcoin and start learning trading without money first. then i would invest 0.01BTC at least and start testing what i have learned and then increase it to 1 bitcoin little by little when i gained some confidence.
if you invest 1 bitcoin right now you will be burning it so fast.
but after a while you will know how to make it double in a short time.

You are assuming that the OP has only 1 bitcoin and he wants to invest it fully. The OP probably has tens of bitcoins and wants to invest just 1 BTC in al alt coin. So there is no issue if he takes higher risk.

Listen, there is only one coin which will bring you guaranteed ROI in 2017: ICONOMI

They are finishing up on the development of their Open Fund Mgmt Platform. We expect deployment until February 2017. After that this coins price will surge to 10$+

Expect to see prices in the area of 100 - 200 $ / ICN in 2018...

As mentioned before, don't just buy based on someone's suggestion before researching it yourself.

Having said that, NEM, SC and ARDR are going to be big. XMR at this current price isn't too bad either.

When you are planning to invest don't listen to other people because you are going to blame them. It's better for you do some research there are many coins are launching daily, study them, research them, pick the good one who are supporting it and invest in it. In this way you will acquire some knowledge about how to research.

I think you should go for Iconomi.
It will diversify your investment and pay weekly dividends in Ethereum.

The best way to start into the crypto-world as an investor.

To start, say "bye bye" your Bitcoin. I think Dash, Eth, Factom and Maid the most promising coins. They can bring a great profit in a few years

Yikes.  You ought to be a little afraid of risk--that's what keeps us from doing stupid things with our money.

There are probably 10,000 threads about this already.  You ought to do some reading here, and you may get some ideas.  People are going to pile in here and pump their favorite shitcoin, and they're all basically that, shit.  My opinion is that you should just hold onto that 1 bitcoin.  It's more than a lot of people have here, and it's likely the only coin you'll see any sort of profit on.

I would go for zCash as it has the potential. It has been on a steady downward trend for some time now and the price looks attractive. You will get 20-21 zCash for 1 Bitcoin and you can sit on it for a year. It might go up multiple times in that period.

I'd like to choose GNT, at least you can buy them at the cheapest price soon. this project will be big soon. Gbyte is including on the best place too.
With a lot of the supply have held by the big companies such as iconomi and it's mean the supply will be less. Because a lot of the coins are in the storage.

I hate to burst your bubble and this isn't going to be what you want to hear but I will tell it you to anyway. You can't really listen to anyone recommendations if you want to invest "1" Bitcoin and get in the money or make profit. You need to research and read various threads in regard to what you think might be successful. This isn't always the case. Now if you want to here the other side of the story or look at the other side of the coin, I invested in an ICO, this is my second one and I thought it was a good decision. You should make a decision in regard of what you want to invest/trade in, other peoples' advice is not always accurate and I warn against it.
