Because Coinbase is so huge, you can expect big issues on their stability during pumps and dumps, when most traders go crazy.
There is a lot of good exchanges to replace Coinbase: Kraken, BitStamp, GDAX, Cex.io, Gemini, Bitquick and more, most of them have great mobile apps.
I wouldn't recommend Poloniex if he only want to trade USD-BTC, same goes for Bittrex and Shapeshift.

That's a poor excuse.

Even the big banks do this shit when the currency prices are too volatile.   I can understand why the  banks are doing this (to not take the loss) but a bitcoin exchange is not a bank. It is more like a forex trading platform.

Btc-e is having shitty issues lately but from what i see you won't have a problem like the one you had with coinbase at least.

Poloniex is the way
I also like to recommend you poloniex which never goes down when price is moving sharply like coinbase does. But it may be not quite convenient like coinbase to deposit your fiat in poloniex, that will not be a big problem if you just like to buy/sell on price swings.
I think you need to read some posts before replying here like this Poloniex is not taking any fiat and its all about alt coins exchange and OP want to use fiat for his venture and some already give reply about this good luck

I'm now officially fed up with CoinBase. They rapidly accept my money when Bitcoin price is rising and I purchase, but if BTC has peaked and I need to sell quickly, the app conveniently becomes busy, and cannot process my request to sell.

They're basically forcing me to take losses.

Can anyone recommend a TRUSTED app with an exchange that is quick to process all requests that is also easy to use? I would prefer one in the USA. And one that works on the iPhone.

Thanks.
It is because you are doing wrong think. Coinbase is normally a type of Bitcoin wallet. Therefore, you can not make the selling process faster because they also need to do tons of think before confirm your request. If you want to sell your Bitcoin easier, you can try to use some trading platform such as yobit, C-CEX, Polinex, etc

I'd like to thank everyone for their input. I've read all of the replies so far. I see I'm not the only one who had this experience. I've been googling around to get an education on load balancing and bandwidth forecasting, and it seems there are white papers that have it down to a science. In the end, the almighty dollar has its say. If a company wanted all clients to experience 100% uptime, it would be far too expensive. They coined terms such as "acceptable unplanned downtime," which should make all of the readers at least somewhat upset. A company can decide which percent of its customer base will suffer through service unavailablility, and scale their hardware deployment to satisfy that metric. Everyone outside of that fringe: tough crap. I'm not sure I liked learning about it this way.

I have been using coinbase for past few months and i have not experienced any issues lately. However, due to my location, the feature of exchanging bitcoin is not available. Instead i use localbitcoins which is far very much convinient. You can give a try to localbitcoins and see if you can exchange easily.

Same i feel with coinbase. I do not find any reason to leave coinbase. They are good and currently only online wallet which offers zero transaction fee. Xapo has started charging minimal tx fee, so we are left with coinbase only if we want to enjoy zero tx fee.
the challenges is when the exchange is busy due to increase in price, which is thought to be undermine by the app to prevent trade at this time but not when the price is lower/less busier. This not good for an exchange and have been reading this often lately.

Well, I think Coinbase is one of the best. but, if you do not like it, maybe poloniex, bittrex, c-CEX, or other trading places could replace it, you just need to look appropriate for you, if need be, you have to try all the famous sites exchanger.

I use the Kraken app on my iPhone.  It's very easy to use and because of their API there's no messing about with login sessions.
I recently read Kraken missed some stop losses when Bitcoin price dropped hard, and apparently that wasn't the first time. It seems the site can't handle the traffic right when Bitcoin's price is most volatile.

All the exchanges come under pressure when there is high trading. It is poor really, you'd have thought they would have increased capacity so they could cope, especially as they know full well that we get trading frenzies at least once a year.

Why would u use coinbase to buy bitcoin. If you are a coinbase customer u use gdax.

Never heard of issues you describe.

Any other exchange in the us is going to be worse than coinbase. Uncan use gemini, or kraken but they dont come close to the features and usability of coinbase.

Mind trying that in their web platform? There is a difference if using an app and web platform. It is similar to our local bitcoin exchange where I encountered a slow response when Im selling it high price while using the app. Then just the recent road to $1000 of bitcoin price I do selling at the web platform thinking that slow response of sell will not happen again like I experienced in the app and it's run smoothly.

So I think you might want to try it in Coinbase and see if it will become effective too.

So you are talking about coinbase with respect to BTC to USD conversion. I do not use this feature. i just use coinbase to send and receive the bitcoins and i think there is no problem with that. But you may suggest me still if i can continue with coinbase ?
