There's obviously no definitive answer to your question.
As with any popular coin, no one exactly knew why/when it would be added to a popular exchange.
Let me ask the converse of your question.
Why wouldn't Cryptsy add LOT?If they did add the random coins listed on
CMC, then why make LOT an exception?
I personally think LOT has achieved so much more than its competitors in very little time.
I'll leave this quote here, I think it deserves more attention.

It's still a gamble, but sometimes intuition tells better
I believe there is no doubt LOT will be added to Cryptsy in the near future, I am just questioning if that was the real Paul Vernon or not.....for all we know someone could of wanted to sell a bunch on coinedup so to generate buying interest they get a profile picture of Paul Vernon, post a rocketship on the cryptsy thread then plaster it all over the alt coin forum so everyone goes and buys all the coins that they wanted to sell...
Never know....
best thing to do is keep accumulating coins, difficulty is still very low...
