they are just doing some site maintenance according to what I read from this post anyways. Says nothing about LTC.

What advantage is it mtgox to add LTC anyways? Wouldn't that provide a backdoor that gox would not make as much money off of?

I mean, people have to pay to get the US dollars out of Gox currently don't they?

but if you have a different coin on gox, then people sell BTC and buy LTC, and then just transfer the LTC into their wallet?

I don't know.

So let's say for a moment that all your dreams come true...LTC is added to Gox...LTC price shoots up, and you sell for tons of USD on Gox...

THEN WHAT?  It will just be trapped there with all the other USD I can look at but can't touch.

Orrr... The price skyrockets hard, and you sell on BTC-e. Grin

Good time to dump LTC?

I would say so as the price was around 0.014 and going down before todays frenzy.

Good time to dump LTC? And how about mining them? Painful. I guess they need some slack. Someone has to pump it to $5 so that they could happily dump it into oblivion. Roll Eyes

Desperate last ditch attempt by LTC bagholders to get a good price to dump.

LTC on gox, because using BTC there now is an epic fail....

I wouldn't trust them with a dirty sock.

The whole ongoing LTC strip-tease...
Is precisely the sort of rank stupidity...
That has resulted in Bitstamp blowing by Gox.

You cash your LTC in for BTC at gox and transfer out... What's the problem? No more fiat/bank issues.
Also, Btc/Ltd pairs on box will even out the exchanges (same prices).

I think it won't happen at this time, but LTC price is uping..

Yeah, someone bought 100K LTC at about .015 and after 30 mins rumors has been started that LTC is going to mtgox.
Seems like next pump&dump.
Someone already earned 150 BTC...

simple answer : no

long answer : no, ltc won't be on gox Smiley

Stop spreading FUD!

MtGox has already said they will be implementing LTC,  The question is not IF but WHEN.

I have no idea if this maintenance is the Midas trading engine, but i there is a chance for sure.

That's the genius about the whole thing, they sell it high, to discover they can't get their funds out, which means buy back even higher. It's gonna be a rocket, I tell you.  Tongue

All joking aside, I'm happy if it gets on Gox because it will get some extra attention and hopefully a few extra merchants pick it up. It's nice advertising, wouldn't use Gox to buy or sell ltc anyway at the moment.

Sell it on btc-e.com instead.

about the engine I am speculating that this is why they will bring the exchange down tomorrow, to make it possible to implement medas the new engine, I am an IT operation engineer and I can tell you that on hardware level you can do hot swap without a problem, this means when we maintain the hardware there is almost no down time or if it is a major one it takes only few minutes, it is different when there is a software upgrade/maintenance.

so it goes like this we usually we clone the server and do all the necessary work on the clone offline, when the clone is ready we bring it online and take down the original one, but in this case there is trading going on all the time so they cant do it this way, so they have to go offline to prevent writing new entries to the data base, so they will go offline and then just import/export the data base to their new servers, test if everything works fine and again bring it online.

Which leaves only one possibility, I think medas is going online tomorrow, and if they tested medas and it is working they tested LTC  implementation as well, it make no sense taking down the exchange twice, once for medas and the second time for LTC, at least an IT professional would not do that.
