The same has happened to me somehow. I lost quite a bit more than that, almost 70k

According to my transaction history they were sent to LPs4C59GfoxUCpBEWchMmre1UKYV1S5RJd (mods please note this is not an address for me to receive coins etc)

for every new coin never forget to set
rpcuser=xxxx
rpcpassword=xxxx
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
in conf file

Please tell me more about this.

what is xxxx ? Do you mean I should paste xxxx exactly? why?
you should replace those xxxx with your username and password but that is not needed unless you plan to run it as server or solomine
if you check op recommended conf file there is "daemon=1'' so it is important as people who used this example are running daemons
no there is no need for that at all, you should just add nodes if any and that is all needed if you just run it as wallet and maybe rpcallowip
ok as a precaution is good and takes no time, sometimes if people just copy/paste config files there can be server, daemon enabled
for the coins i only use as wallets i never add anything else than the nodes if any and never had any issues

EDIT: and always encrypt wallet, different password for every coin
i believe you but it happens, and happened here, i choose precaution rather than crying later
most usually this things happen when someone downloads some new coin wallet that will later turn to be stealing other coins wallets on his PC, it wont be the first time

instead of xxxx use any username you like, and also use extremely strong password
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1 is important,  it will block any remote commands, so no one can use your wallet and send coins remotely

Is that same wallet encryption password or not? And if not, does it ask me about rpcuser and rpcpassword ?

Do I need to set this rpcallowip=127.0.0.1 for all cryptocoins config?
its not same as encrypt wallet and it doesent ask you about them unles you use it like server or for solo mining so they are not needed and ip part is to only allow conections from your localhost

I'm looking into this.  I haven't seen anything fishy in the sources.  Currently going through the blockchain to see where these missing coins went.

I'm still mining with you best-pool. I've turned auto payouts off for the moment until I sort this shit out

I always use AV software, machine is firewalled. Clearly it's my mistake for not encrypting wallet, I've learned from that.

I'm interested to know how it happened though
Unfortunately there is not an anti virus program that provides 100% protection.
Any computer connected to the Internet is vulnerable.

My coins are safe, I am going to leave them on an exchange for now I think until more is known.

edit: to clarify, my coins were sitting in my wallet but I moved them to the exchange when I read this.

My coins were stolen from my wallet somehow. i sent them from the pool a couple of hours ago and they were there. Now they are gone. I don't know if there is a virus in the wallet or something. I did not have that many only a couple of thousand but it was all I had.
