Yes, same here, my prediction is that it will be a close fight, however, it seems that Lopez really had the numbers and Gonzalez is just short again in his attempt to win a title.
Nevertheless he did give try his best, but obviously that night it was the champion who is working double hard to retain his belt and Gonzalez doesn't have any respond to that and just going on the motions to finished the fight.
I do agree that Inoue will beat this version of Lopez at 126 lbs and he could be the easiest of the champion and could be a great target for Inoue if he moves up in another division above him.

The scorecards did not reflect the actions in the fight I agree that Lopez deserves the win but the gap in scoring was not realistic Ruben Carrion (116-112), Robert Hoyle (118-110), and Steve Weisfeld (117-111) I thought Lopez won one or two rounds there was even a concern in the eyes of Luis Alberto Lopez when the scorecard was being read maybe thinking if what he has done was enough to win the fight, there was a sign of relief when his name was called.

I just knew it was going to be a slugfest both fighters showed hunger all throughout the fight, Let's see now if the Luis Alberto Lopez - Naoya Inouefight will push through. hope to create a thread for that.

Locking this thread now, hope to see more great fights this year.

Kudos to Gonzales for going the distance despite being outgunned by Lopez. It was clear from the start that Gonzales had no opportunity to win as he does not have that pop that could intimidate Lopez but nevertheless, it was a good fight.

One thing i observed on Lopez was that his defense wasn't so good and this is crucial if he fought Inoue in the future as i think Top Rank will be cooking this fight to make Inoue a 4-division champion as Lopez is very beatable.

I thought that the fight was close, but obviously, Lopez had the upper hand on most of the rounds this is the only fight where Lopez was challenged after his 11-winning streak, I agree with you and the commentators that there are loopholes in Lopez's style he just overwhelmed his opponents with a barrage of fighters.

I doubt if he can make a good challenge against Inoue, statistics and style Inoue still has an edge against Lopez, but it's worth watching when Top Rank arraigned a fight between the two.

The fight is a give-and-take between the two fighters but Lopez is getting the most out of the exchanges this is a fast-paced fight one of them could lose a gas if this goes in the championship rounds I have Lopez ahead by 2 rounds here, check out the live feed here.

UPDATE: Luis Alberto Lopez retains his title via unanimous decision It was a great fight but Gonzalez cannot keep up with Lopez's rapid punching and good ring generalship.

Yes, and as the score card reflects, Ruben Carrion (116-112), Robert Hoyle (118-110) and Steve Weisfeld (117-111) all for the winner in Lopez here. The defense is not there because he keeps on throwing punches.

But I do agree that if Inoue will go up in weight and wanted to win at 126 lbs, he can easily go after Lopez here as he doesn't have that punching power. He had volumes, however, Inoue will fight and time him when getting inside and win with a knockout, as the way I see it.

This is going to be the last ticket of Gonzalez to try to become a champion. He had other chances before, but it was against the top dog of that division that time.
On the case of Lopez though, this guy solid, he travelled to England and beat their champion in Josh Warrington.
And then go to Ireland this time for his first defense against Conlan and knock him out.
As per bookies, Gonzalez is 7:1 underdog so that speak for itself how though this fight is going for him to finally win a belt.
I doubt that he can do it against Alberto Lopez.

It's probably the last chance of Gonzalez for a world title, he has lost to some of the best, Shakur Stevenson, and Emmanuel Navarette. However, I would say that Luis Alberto Lopez is a good champion and not sure if Gonzalez has the tools to defeat him.

For me this is not going to last for 12 rounds, I would say that Lopez might win in less that 10 rounds via knockout. It's just going to be very difficult for Gonzalez unless he had earn that experience already in a championship fight, just saying.

It's great that this thread has been bumped. It's happening tomorrow, so hopefully, we will be able to find a free stream online. Personally, I'm not familiar with these fighters, although their names might be well-known. Whoever wins this fight might have a chance to face Inoue if he decides to move up. Judging from their statistics, there's nothing particularly interesting as they aren't KO artists or they only have a low KO rate.

Anyway, I think I would choose Gonzalez to win, as he has the height and reach advantage.

I'll watch the fight I want to see great action, Lopez is a good prospect in the boxing world his style is very much similar to Jorge Arce and Fernando Montiel, he is a small guy but loves to mix it up in the future he'll have a lot of great fights and I see him fighting Navarette in the future or even Pitbull Cruz.
I expect Lopez to knock out Gonzalez probably in the late rounds, Lopez loves to punish his opponents before knocking them out just like in his last fight against Conlan.

If you to watch the fight, it will happen tomorrow and the cards will begin @8am PH time. I've tried to search in my favorite bookies as i'm interested to bet and looking on whose gonna be the favorite but there were no odds found in my favorite bookies.

Good for boxing fans in Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines because per Top Rank post, the fight will be aired for free in these three countries.

That's good to know I don't have to look for links to watch it for free all I have to do is wake up early to watch the fight, I wonder why only in these three countries, is Top Rank promoting boxers in these cards to these countries, Top Rank and DAZN are two of the promotions that let countries to watch their events for free I hope other promotions will follow their leads to promote their unpopular fighters.

It's really a blessing that Top Rank is showing its fights for free through Facebook and YouTube. Just like coin-investor I also first saw Luis Alberto Lopez against that arrogant hype Gabriel Flores Jr. And the next time I heard him is when he was given his first title shot against Josh Warrington. I was rooting for him but I honestly did not expect him to win in the UK. Lopez is really underrated and I assume he was underdogs against Flores Jr. Warrington and Conlan.

Joel Gonzales is another popular Mexican prospect but he always loses every time he steps up in competition. He lost to Shakur, Navarette and Dogboe. One thing is sure though, he is one tough contender so this fight might be 50/50. I doubt Lopez can hurt Joet so he better be ready for a 12-round war because his opponent will keep pressing him.

As for Lopez's future, I think he better stay at 126 and try to unify the belts first before considering moving up to 130 for Navarette. Also, an Inoue fight at 126 will give him the biggest money compared to Navarette and Cruz at 135. So he better keep that belt around his waist and try to lure Inoue to move up.

Bettors aren't so excited about the bout even when it is a title fight. There are lots really great boxers in the undercard who could be the new name in the coming years.

Xander Zayas and Emiliano Vargas but among the undercard is Robson Conceicao who if you remember had fought a title fight against Shakur Stevenson and lost. This time he is fighting an 8 rounder lol

Joet Gonzalez has come up short in his previous attempts at conquering a world title and I don't see the outcome being any different this time. Lopez's resume speaks for itself. He has beaten an undefeated prospect and has back to back wins in the UK.
And yet he is not considered a top-drawer with all these good fights, Lopez is such an underrated and his camps know it but until Inoue goes up he needs to fight whoever can give him a good reputation in the ring, one thing that draws me to Lopez is he was never been hurt in all of his fights.

This guy has a good chin and body, and he loves to come in he may not have an excellent ring generalship but his moves are imposing enough, if ever Lopez is the real opposition to Inoue's road to greatness.

I can see these two clash in the future, Lopez started this idea so We'll see if Inoue's camp is ready to take this idea for them to meet in the ring after they both hurdle their respective opponents.

Robeisy is not a draw but neither is "El Venado" Lopez. Inoue has options if he decides to move up. Unifying the division is a great way to become a frontrunner amongst those options.

Once Lopez wins maybe he will have a unifying bout with Ramirez.
Conlan was actually a good contender to fight Lopez but the man seemed to be in a hurry and gassed out in the end. Despite the head movement, it just took one shot. Quite a fun fight to watch.  No assurance he can win vs. Gonzalez though, he is also a tough opponent. One can say it's not an easy fight for Lopez.

There are interesting matches on the card like Xander Zayas vs Roberto Valenzuela. This is worth watching also.

The fight is going to happen two weeks from now, Lopez already hinted that he wants to fight Inoue after he beat Gonzales, so there is a possibility of unifying the title against WBO featherweight champion Robeisy Ramirez, but they want a fight that will attract big attention and big money so they opted to fight Inoue if he beats Tapales and decides to move up in the featherweight division instead of unifying the featherweight title.
What do you think, Can he match Inoue's speed and power, Lopez is a tough fighter but I doubt if he can subdue the Monster if they meet in the ring, I believe Inoue can carry his speed and power even in the featherweight.

I'm initially on Gonzalez on this one from looking at the tape but I can't be sure anymore after reading his way of fighting. It will be a waste of that reach advantage if he's not going to dance around while making full use of his jabs. I'm going to watch more of their previous fights before deciding to bet.

Joet has fought the best fighters in his division and if there is one thing good about him is his toughness, both fighters are tough, but Lopez has a better ring generalship I already decided on this one I have Lopez here winning by stoppage or decision after knocking out Conlan it establish his reputation, it reminds me of Arce they have the same style, the same aggressiveness and he is a real Mexican warrior.
I have seen four of Lopez's videos so far and he is good to watch no boring moments he always goes forward even if he is also facing a slugger like him.
