Israel has announced it intends to detain Jewish terror suspects without trial as the prime minister, Binyamin Netanyahu, came under pressure to respond to the deaths in separate attacks of a Palestinian toddler and Israeli teenager.

Thousands of Israeli people took to the streets over the weekend to warn against a radicalised and violent fringe growing within the country, following the arson attack on a Palestinian family home in the West Bank by extremists and the stabbing of six people at a Jerusalem Gay Pride march by a suspect identified as an ultra-Orthodox Jew.

One of those stabbed in Jerusalem, Shira Banki, 16, died as a result of her wounds on Sunday. She had been in critical condition since being stabbed in the back by a suspect, Yishai Shlissel, who carried out the attack just weeks after being released from a 10-year prison sentence for stabbing participants in the 2005 march.

Signs held at the weekend protests read: “Hate kills” and “Homophobia and racism are the same violence”.

"Detaining suspects without a trial?"

What in the world does that mean?

I could see detaining arrested individuals without bond.  Maybe the translation was incorrect?

When politicians fail, conscientious people take moral responsibility.
Position of Binyamin Netanyahu is very unstable, he depends on the support level of radical Jews in parliament and therefore has to maintain a precarious balance between the maintenance of justice and the maintenance of power.
Therefore, the Jews will never be punished for their crimes against Palestinians but Palestinians will always be punished.
Also, Netanyahu will continue to build Jewish settlements in the Palestinian territories and the spiral of violence will also continue.
I don't see hope or solution for them now.

The Israeli demography is rapidly changing. The ultra-orthodox and the modern religious are increasing in proportion, thanks to the high birth rates and low emigration. On the other hand, the left-wing and secular Jews are immigrating to North America and Europe. And among the Israeli Arabs also, the radical proportion is growing, as the secular Arabs are also emigrating out of the country.

The right-wing bloc (Ultra-Orthodox, Modern Religious, and Russian speakers) now heavily outnumber the left-wing (mostly early settlers from Europe). So the Israeli government policies will swing more and more towards the right.
