"Complementary currencies". I haven't heard that particular term used before, they seem to use it a lot to describe crypto. I like it.

There's this thing going on in the UK and other countries where they refuse to classify Bitcoin as what it is, private money, so they're just coming up with any old bullshit to compensate for it so they don't piss off the central bankers.

Good for them! I wonder how long it'll take for a student to actually pay his tuition in full using "complementary currencies", though.

It takes a tough man to make a tender chicken.
I saw this on BBC breakfast yesterday.  It was a good interview and the guy from the university came across well and painted Bitcoin in a very positive light.

Jem put on a free lecture at Griffith Uni in Brisbane, which he invited me down.  Was very good going through the history of complimentary currencies.  He tweeted me his slide deck too, which ill share on here if theres interest.

Like all good uni lectures, it finished with pints down the pub.  And of course at the end of the night, we split the meal bill.  People didn't have correct change, Jem wanted to pay with his credit card (and of course didn't want AUD)

So of course we paid him back with BTC.  BTC really solves those payment problems.

I can't find news of any student taking them up on this offer yet.  I wonder if we will hear when that happens...
