It may have been mentioned already but how about getting the faucet up and running. There's a link to it on the website and it would seem more professional if it were working. I could probably donate a few coins and the higher the price gets, the lower the number of coins I would be willing to give - I imagine it's the same for many people.

I have no idea what a faucet is, what does it do?

Gives away free coins with a restriction that you can only use it once per day or some other time interval. Refilled by donations from richer people. The idea is to disperse the coin more widely to promote use.

So I was just running the calculations... seems like this is horribly unprofitable to mine directly. Did I calculate something wrong?

It's possible because it's nowhere near "horribly unprofitable" territory.

X11 hashrate is roughly 3.1x scrypt. We currently have top scrypts giving roughly 0.0077 BTC/day for 1000 kH/s*. DRK is currently at 0.0083 BTC/day for 3100 kH/s.

Is there a site where I can calculate how many coins I can get per day?

CoinsPerDay/ Mh = Block Reward / (Difficulty*0.0497102696)

On the IRC #darkcoin channel, you can run a command like this to get an idea as well

Code:
 !calc 1000
tifozi: DarkCoin [DRK] estimated income for 1000 KH/s @ current difficulty of 265.4120 = 0.07 DRK per hour (0.00010399 BTC/$0.07 USD), 1 BTC in 400.68 days

I started mining here - It's nice to be able to get some reasonable shares with little hash power... Come on Lottery!

Also, I'm going to have to start learning German soon anyway Smiley

I don't know how German is related here but anyways..

More people to lotterymining!! Come on people! It's Golden!

Also, I have one powercolor and one gigabyte 280x on the way. Does anyone have settings for 2.2mh/s+ ??

yeah. its look like not porfitable now but wait to add the other exchager site to add darkcoin on their list. after that you will be happy...
Eh looks like I'll just mine something else and add some buy support for this coin.

Has it already been mentioned somewhere in this thread about how much less power it takes to mine Dark? I know the thread title says it runs cooler which is great and all, but I think a pretty cool selling point is how much less electricity you use to mine it. My experience:

3x 280x rig mining Scrypt - 900W as measured with kill a watt meter
Same rig mining Dark - 490W

If you pay high electric rates that's a huge savings!

Aside from potential and how awesome this coin is, for me this is by far the best coin to mine because power is expensive where I live...

Mining with 4x280x GPUs undervolted.
Scyrpt: 970W
Dark X11: 520W

That's almost half the cost in power!!! Let alone the GPUs stay around 30 degree's cooler and less noise from fans!

you are more than welcome to add funds to the faucet, ive allready used 1000 darkcoins on it, and think its time for others to dip in as well, the donation address is at the faucet...

This is all I see when I go to the faucet:

Clicking "Request Free Darkcoins" does nothing and I can't see any address to make a deposit.

done, done, done! Its amazing that we are still under the radar!  Wink I like it...the longer this takes, the better the overlong health of this coin will be!

+1 Voted for all three, wish I could vote again.  Now all I can do is spread the word!
