pangolin has. the m20s for about 1400 shipped
I need to look at the 30s or 31s gear.

I am glad you got the issue fixed, sometimes the fix is pretty straight forward and simple but we fail to see it, it happens a lot don't blame your self.

I think $1400 for M20s is a lot, below is the average price in Shenzen

M20s > $1100
M30s >currently no stock
M31s> $1500

These are the average prices, you can negotiate and get them for slightly cheaper, you still need to take shipping into account, I am already into these MicroBt gears, my next upgrade will consist of at least 70-80% MicroBT, no more crappy bitmain gears for me.

Glad to hear they were able to come through for you once again. Great service and consistent... I like it. Not just the riots but if i were thinking of buying anything else atm I would be factoring in a PSU replacement for every 3rd miner I bought. I don't really know the where and or why but their miners seem to always start off with one PSU, then it gets an upgrade in later batches to an "X"1 model PSU, which seems sturdier and/or more efficient.

With no hard and fast numbers it just seems their PSU's can be problematic within a year of service. It's not much different from having a few extra 1600 PSU's kicking around as spares before they all became packaged units.

yep. my eyes are shit for close up.  5 years at sea in The USN speed up my cataracts I got one at 50 the other at 53.

Left eye is corrected to 20-20
right eye is corrected to 20-80

Great for driving
Great for pc blogging .

But close up and depth perception sucks.

so 3 sets. of plugs and jacks need to be matched with that design. when I assembled it first time I did

..      ..     ..
..       ..     ..
..       ..     ..
..       ..     ..
..       ..     ..

So the controller misread all three hash boards.

the original psu was p20.

the newer p21. is 3600 watts. it is a bit higher quality then the   p20 was.

the new firmware for the m20s is excellent.

and the new tool. whatsminer 5.0.2. is great you can do all your whatsminers in one shot.

alter pools
alter speeds.

I actually would buy some if not for the riots and the Covid-19.

pangolin has. the m20s for about 1400 shipped

I am not sure if hmtech    sells full units.  but a 68 th unit doing 46 watts on normal and  doing 46th and 43 watts on low with the options available with the new whatsminer tool it is and improved product.

I need to look at the 30s or 31s gear.

So again, aside from wrong PSU, the main problem was that silly little bridge board needing to be re-seated?

Shout out to the guys at https://hmtech.co/  (919) 283-2715

So second m20s psu died.

I will try to get it running.

I blew the psu. I got a new psu.  and it said P21 the controller said fuck you I want a p20.

i know that was exactly what happened with first miner.

so i flash the h6 controller and i now have a bricked or quasi brick controller.

i used h6 controller firmware.

from 2020 4 18.

tool said you did a successful upgrade.

I boot 🥾 and I get message no p21 psu.

and the tool says.  miner v_unknown.

so I need to get back to hmtech.com and ask how to correctly flash the controller.

I flashed the first dead unit months  ago with older firmware.

I flashed this second unit today with the newer firmware and newer tool and i have a dead unit.

i spent about five hours on it today. will try contacting hmtech tomorrow.

He directed me to a code listing

I had codes

201  = wrong psu

but I had

410
411
412    they mean board connector has an issue.

so bang open it up looked closely ,

reset the 3 way bridge from boards to controller,   < edit for clarity

and we are whaling better than ever!!!

70th vs 68th

really nice on low speed  about 43 watts a th and not crazy loud.

Yeah I can't be sure what's right and/or wrong with any of it. I've never been a fan of their troubleshooting or problem solving. Not surprised they had the wrong firmware as they miss details and waste time, especially when it comes to versions of boards and compatible firmware. I'm going to reach out to the North Carolina center and see if this is something they can take care of, i know the board versions as long as it's labeled correctly. It just sucks having to do it via SD card. I've never had an issue using the Whatsminer tool, but this is just frustrating.

Well about time. I've had the miner online for 2 days now. Just glad to be that far ahead.

https://hmtech.co/  (919) 283-2715  they do repair m20s  they sold me a m20s psu  a p21

These guys saved the day and the turnaround was pretty much same day. If it wasn't for the local UPS sub contractor sucking out again I would have been online last week. Either way anyone who has anything Whatsminer should look these guys up.

Would have been nice to not need the SD card in the first place. The 2 m10's I've had to reset came back just fine with no firmware issues.

Okay  there were 2 controllers h-6 and h-3

Both you and I had beta models. can't remember which of the 2.

When I blew the psu and got the new one from the company in North carolina.  the new psu would not work.

when I went to upgrade the firmware on the controller pangolin only had the wrong one . I found the right one on microbt website.

when I loaded correct firmware the gear runs but like shit.  either really hot at 50th or fairly hot on low speed at 38th
the other unit whales at 67th.  I use almost the same power to do 38th on low with new psu and new firmware.

At this point I am 70 miles away fro almost all the gear.
I am technically not allowed to drive up to work there.

So for now I can't play with any gear to see if I can fix it.

I am down 1 L3+ and s9's  and mostly doing nothing.

Since I never loaded the firmware via sd card I don't know if I would be able to do it. and I can't compare it to my m20's as I don't have hands on access.  I have team viewer but to know I did this correctly I need to take the controller you have program it and attach to my gear to see what it does.

I am going to be stuck local for 2-3 weeks as NJ is no 2 on the corona-v list and considering we are physical small and very densely populated I am just waiting and hoping for lock down to end by april 30.

So this has gone nowhere. The last few weeks have involved me ordering another reader/writer to try and load the firmware this went nowhere as I kept getting an error when I would follow their instructions - "Mirror file not found" and then it says script failed this is using Phoenixcard.

They essentially provide a data dump of mega.nz. After it failed numerous times I tried for weeks to wait out a meeting through teamviewer so they could try and format the SD card remotely... they kept missing the appointment, and eventually just told me to try again.

I've never done this before using an SD card and a reader/writer so I can't be sure if it's me or if there is an issue in the instructions. I am going to reach out to a forum member and see if they have time or the inclination to format an SD card for me and send it in the mail. This may be to little to late with the current global situation but it's worth a shot. I don't believe it's a control board anymore, as my 3 m10s at different times in the last few weeks do the same thing and a factory reset worked just fine on them.

So now I have a bricked unit and can't be sure if I'm the problem now. I received my card writer and proceeded to write the m20s control board program to it. When I put the SD card in and then boot the miner without an ethernet connection the lights don't flash the way they are supposed to. - should be red flashing while it burns then solid green when done. I get red and green flashing at the same time.

What I am unsure of is if I'm doing it right as Yang sent me the files and a program as a package, the phoenixcard writing program doesn't launch on my pc so I downloaded win32disk imager and used that. It seemed to work fine but obviously something isn't quite right. I'm guessing I won't hear from Yang until Sunday night so we'll see what happens.

Finally got online with Yang yesterday morning as he missed teamviewer again the night before. It was about 40 minutes of going through everything I had previously done, including changing to BTC.com pool - like that would be the fix, then finally doing a factory reset. I had asked about doing this a week ago I believe, and received no response. That essentially bricked the unit for now, as the mining program did not boot back up, so I've been waiting for a reply and have a fresh SD card. I'll update more once I have a definitive on this working or not.
In the meantime thanks for the info Phil, I'll keep them in mind.
Edit: After their holidays Yang got back to me with everything I need to flash to an SD card to hopefully unbrick my M20S. Wish he had sent that simple little message 2 weeks ago, as I found out my card reader/writer is NFG. So amazon should have one to me Monday or Tuesday. Really love when things come together so nicely.  Roll Eyes

Well another round of really truly helpful troubleshooting finally happened last night... or was supposed to. Yang was finally going to make a teamviewer session so he could see exactly the same things I've told him. I had to go over everything again and point out that I sent him screenshots of everything and a description, when he asked me to describe my problem.... legitimately almost lost my shit right out the gate.
So he in fact doesn't show up for teamviewer until about 5 hours after expected and it's now 2ish so I'm already shutting down and headed to bed. I just tell him I'm no longer available and ask him things like what's the next step... because trying a different pool doesn't work, and is just plain stupid in general. Keeps saying try BTC.com, no thanks.
Wake up to his ever so helpful advice which I could have guessed from the stellar troubleshooting on my m10 last year, try new firmware, then proceeds to send me incompatible FW for my machine. I should have already had all these as I asked for them 2 weeks prior as I wanted to test LP FW versions available. Thankfully I had a few I could try thanks to Phil, non of which did anything to solve the problem. He still hasn't answered anything about whether or not attempting a factory reset will do anything, I'm reluctant to attempt it as I don't know how this machine will respond to that. So there is a very good chance it's an issue with my control board.

An update on what I've found going wrong each time is that cgminer shows on the Overview, this is when I can see all values as Zero on my status page. This values then go to this - and show the error I noted above. On the Overview page now it reads as cgminer restarting or waiting to start, can't recall. It cycles like this a bit then I believe stops, I only leave it on for about 20 minutes to troubleshoot each time. When cgminer drops off on the cgminer API page (can't recall for sure the heading) it says socket connection -> failed.

Either way I'm going to try and leverage a control board out of them as it's barely off warranty, and they never did follow through with their promise of discounted hardware after they delivered ~ a month late with this model. We'll see what he says tonight, I'll try and simmer down a bit before chatting with him.

Thanks. I'll hit you up if it comes to that. I did hear back from Yang, and as usual they have no idea until I get him on Teamviewer, which won't be until tomorrow as I'm at work. I'll likely clean it up a little and then fire it up around 9 when they should be getting in the office.
Had to laugh as he gave me the basic, "Is your pool info okay?"... Why didn't I think of that  Tongue

Edit: So Yang never came online Monday night, or Tuesday until well after I had to crash out for the evening. The telegram response so far was " Maybe it's  not compatible with those pools." Considering I have been running this machine for months I obviously have follow up questions. Annoyed more than anything I waited around to setup the stupid teamviewer session.

Yeah this was my pre-order that showed up in June I believe, I gave it a light cleaning just blew it through with air in August I think... maybe September. I think I still have a can or 2 kicking around and will remove fans tomorrow night when I'm home to give it a once over. It wasn't to bad the first time around, it's just such a weird error to see.
I was kind of thinking it could be a controller issue or something. Hopefully just a little TLC and it's good to go... not a time I want to be down any hashrate. Worst case I have to get parts ordered within a few days if I need something.

I can give you the guy in North Carolina  they may be faster then pangolin

this was the one that came in may

I had a psu fail on one of them.

The replacement psu needed the newest firmware to recognize it.

the unit runs not but at reduced speeds  at least power and fans also dropped it now is a 42th 2100 watt miner

the other one just works.  this came in july

All I got is they do get dirty when was the last time you cleaned it?
