The idea is to create a Bitcoin hub around Alcalá Street in Madrid,

Is this a touristy area (lot of foreigners), by chance?

The most. Full of wi-fi hotspots, currency exchange bureaus, bars, cafés, etc... It would be extremely good for visibility.

BTCBTC  Madrid Bitcoin Competition    BTCBTC

We are going to organize an experiment in local Bitcoin saturation in Madrid which could serve as a blueprint for many other cities. The idea is to create a Bitcoin hub around Alcalá Street in Madrid, by getting as many shops and businesses in that street to accept Bitcoin and prominently display a "Bitcoin accepted here sticker".

The competition will be won by whoever gets the greatest number of legit stickers in place within a 2 week period. There will be a BTC prize.

Not only will it be fun to do, but if it takes off the educational impact and visibility impact for Bitcoin will be huge. The network effect of achieving local saturation will be amazing.

Even if you are not from Spain, you might be interested in helping out this project because if the experiment suceeds it is something that can be replicated in any major city.

How can you help?

Visit the main thread (Spanish)  https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/madrid-bitcoin-competition-99967   and post saying the amount that you would be willing to donate for the prize. We are not taking any donations yet, just pledges. If we reach a minimum amount we will create a Bitcoin address for donations.
