Name is more important than anything else.

People want to line up at the grocery store to buy & eat AnusFlakes™ with Sploodge Milk™ ?
Wanna drive a fucking FORD "Asshole-Mobile XL 2.0 with green tech" ?

The name is the first impression.. fail that and you're fucked.
It's almost as bad as having a name that is too hard to pronounce or spell.

How is that not obvious ?
Why am i the one to point it out ? again

Safe Coin ? Makes me suspicious & skeptical i can trust it. LOL
And why use the word coin ? Are they going to press quarters nickels and safe-dimes ?

ugghhhh  Roll Eyes

Next you will all be telling me the whole world will be throwing away FIAT to use Monero's instead  Cheesy

PS:
Nice pizza story but who gives a fuck ?
Missing out ? On what now ? Not everyone here is on their knee's for FIAT / BTC ROI's Roll Eyes
Don't sprinkle cheese on me and call me a pizza bucko !

YEp it's bad. Buit 99,99% don't care about name. Just how to make profits of coins. Same they don't care how the coin will be used/whitepaper and etc.

I never bother to explore the coin, the coin is very feminine and it's not about an feminine organization,it's about renting of hard drive but wonder why the dev did not make it's name synonymous or related to hard drive,so users and investors can relate to this coin.

Yes, one of the worst names ever, and the acronym doesn't make it better... Worse.

MaidSafe is a good coin platform, when they finally get through with the testing then the users will feel more like geeks lol.

It's not just you. This truly bugs me -- enough to resurrect the topic.

I'm a fairly rational person, and an engineer, but because branding is absolutely critical to project success, the lame name alone made me limit my initial investment. There is zero cool factor to the name, which I expect makes many investors yawn and look elsewhere.

The "SAFE" part is fine. The "MAID" part only hurts the coin.

If we go by the Igore naming guide, Maidsafe is a functional name (functional names, like "Computek" and "Qualiserve", are the bottom of the barrel for branding). Maidsafe is also evocative, but in the wrong way (I don't think they intended for you to imagine a cautious housemaid).

The best brand names are easy to remember and evocative in a compelling way.

Examples of great names, from a marketing perspective:

Dash  <- "Digital cash" that's fast. Both functional and experiential. Perfect branding.
Ether <- Evocative and somewhat functional. Has cool factor, and sort of describes the project in an abstract way. Love it.
Tesla <- Evocative.
Virgin <- Evocative and provocative. Not functional at all, yet one of the most successful examples of branding I know of.

Rather than describing the coin in its name, it's better to evoke to the idea of security. "Safe" is okay, but can still be interpreted as boring. Something evocative like "Vault" would interest me more.

Maidsafe is an acronym. It's also the name of A Company, not the network. It's already known as Safecoin. Safecoin will be the currency on the Safenetwork. You can use Safemail, or Safechat, or go to the Safemarket. Maybe post a video on Safetube

Seriously, you're engineer and didn't look into maid further, because of it's name? BTC has the Pizza guy paying 10,000 BTC for a pizza. You will be known as the ENGINEER who has already lost out on 10x possible gains! Lol! Why? Because you weren't evoked?

What does Safe evoke? Security.

I mean seriously? MaidSafe? After e-10 milliseconds of solid concentration I can think of a dozen better names. Why not just call it FishPear, ZigPoop, WagBloob or LemonRod? Any of these would be as good as MaidSafe. Pity because apart from the name it sounds like it might actually be a good idea.
I likes tha WAGBLOOB name mahseff, y'all definitely wouldn't mistake thet fer any o' these otha silly broke ass coins.  Yuh, maidsafe weren't well thought thru by its genius creata's.

Sounds like someone I would call to clean my house.

Exactly!

And can you imagine some burly man walking into a pub, asking for a pint and saying "can I pay by MaidSafe"? It just doesn't quite ring true. I vote that they rename it to FishPear.
