Big rallies are not to be trusted, it's the slow climb that keeps.

We'll, NYSE, Gemini, Bill Gates saying BTC is better than currency... the stars are aligning, so we might as well see a nice little rally going on. Maybe 154 was bottom time?

Maybe, lots of good news coming all the time now.  People forget we cant just go up and up all the time, we need a break which can be year long even.

Bitcoin is heading to $500 or even $600 rapidly .. I'm buying in NOW! any idea whats got the price moving so suddenly?

I doubt that bitcoin can go to $500 - $600 this year although I really hope so. Bitcoin prices just like other commodity or Fiat follow the same basic principal...Supply and Demand.  Whenever there are more buyers than sellers the price will always goes up. Basic principle of economics. Wink

i'd be surprised not to see that sort of range by april imho

News that we will have real regulated exchanges to buy and sell Bitcoin
That and perhaps bitcointalk being down a few days calming everyone the heck down from a depression state lol.

OH And Money has finally been put in peoples accounts on the exchanges because it takes a few days to process it  Grin

regulated exchanges in the USA, where the money is and most people were scared to buy bitcoins because of lack of regulations and tax stuff

Nice to see some sharp spikes upward instead of the crawling downward trend. Hopefully maintains upward momentum and not just hype.

...

First a disclosure: I have not been through enough Bitcoin price cycles to document what I now write...

*  *  *

But, there are three things that I keep in mind re BTC:

1) Coinbase/Winklevoss/etc. are providing much-needed publicity, and hence legitimacy.

2) Once the (at least) four gold bullion merchants started accepting Bitcoin, that led (and leads) me to think other businesses will too.

3) BTC DOES need to get easier to use, perhaps Coinbase, BTC ATMs, etc. might also put BTC in the public eye.

Ease of use.  More acceptance.  More visibility.  Those three concepts are trending to higher price for Bitcoin.  Maybe much higher.

bill gates said negative things about BTC:

or correct me if he changed his mind

He didn't say anything bad, he said bitcoin is going to be a big player in virtual currency but that there will be other coins that can fill the voids of what bitcoin cannot.

Firstly, how do you know its heading to 500-600$ 's ? If you don't even know what caused the pump ?
Also, its probably due to a lot of news lately including Coinbase.

Easy, technical analysis

It's Monday morning in Asia.  But I can't tell whether that's the reason or it's just collapsing shorts on BitFinex.  Probably the latter.

This is bitcoins "IPO"... FDIC insured Bitcoin exchange  backed up by NYSE will legitimize Bitcoin to many users unsure about it.
If a small fraction of the investors pad their portfolio with 1% bitcoin do you have any idea what that will do to the price?

If Bitcoin ever surpasses 1100 again do you know what that will do to legitimize Bitcoin in most users eyes(remember, most people
only witnessed 1 bubble and collapse to a higher support and not the 8 that proceeded it.

You are in at the IPO level now. What happens when the general public gets informed about this and they see bitcoin rallying per-emptively?
