Could happen eventually but I doubt that Texas will be doing it anytime soon.  I expect that Oregon and possibly one or two other Western states will legalize for recreational purposes sometime later this year or early next year.  A few other states will follow.  But states that don't even have medical marijuana are unlikely to go straight to recreational.
FYI I have a relative in Texas now with cancer who is prescribed medical marijuana and gets it from Walgreens in pill form.

Huh?  I don't see Texas on this list of states with medical marijuana:

What's up?

I agree. Legal weed is a very liberal policy that would never fly in states whose voters have any level of intelligence.

i think rick perry only does things when it benefits him. otherwise, things will go left unchanged. or maybe he can solve issues in texas with a stadium prayer http://www.nytimes.com/2011/08/07/us/politics/07prayer.html

i think one of the things he has prayed for was an end to the drought that texas is suffering. yeah, it doesn't have anything to do with science.. just ask god, and he'll fix it all  Cheesy

Too late, it's already legal in the DPRK.  Cheesy

http://www.vice.com/read/north-korea-is-stoned-all-the-time-which-explains-a-lot

Quote
North Korea, the most tight-lipped, conservative, and controlling country in the world is also a weed-smoker’s paradise. Despite the government’s deadly serious stance on the use and distribution of hard drugs like crystal meth (which has a notorious legacy in the country), marijuana is reportedly not considered a drug. As a result, it’s the discerning North Korean gentleman’s roll-up of choice, suggesting that, for weed smokers at least, North Korea might just be paradise after all.

This is not true.  There are many, many more factors at work than the dominant political affiliation of a state.

Let's put it this way.  If a primary Republican leader in a state like TX got behind a concept such as this, advocated it and sold it, people would get behind it that are basically fence sitters.

There is no uniform or dominant "anti marihuana" attitude among Republicans or Republican leadership.

Legalizing Marijuana will kill the drug cartel in Mexico.

Nah those guys are good smart capitalists, they will find other markets. Have trust in them!

Oh yea they have market in other countries for sure.  These cartels don't work together so their is multiple arms to be taken into consideration with the cartels reach..  America is just their best customer by far.

Tweet @GovernorPerry "Maybe if you LEGALIZE WEED you could afford to secure your border"

That's funny lol

Similar news they gave over 20,000 illegal immigrants DL in Vegas this last year.

Might as well open the boarders and let them flow in.

No. If you want to destroy the drug cartels in Latin America (especially those Mexican and Colombian cartels), then you'll have to legalize cocaine. Despite being used by far less users when compared to weed, in terms of total USD value, cocaine is far bigger.

I think making marijuana legal in the states furthest from the border would be even more affective because that is where the final destination is and the price goes up the closer it is to the final destination.  The idea of legalizing cannabis to help for border security sounds good too me

I'm not trying to crap on your idea and I even support it but Obama and his minions were laughing at Perry in the meeting they had yesterday so I'm not sure the Feds would allow TX to do anything unless Perry stepped up w/ some balls and called out his state's national guard. It was merely a show meeting and there is no intent on securing the border from the left's point of view.

Maybe a prayer rally would secure the border.  Cheesy

They are already doing it. With MS13 coming in like a tsunami, Saint Santa Muerte will make a... killing
