hi again, i bought my gaming/mining pc and its finally time to invest to that old pc.. i have couple of questions

1. do i have to do a pin shorting in my mobo to get GPUs work in x1 slot? (https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/list-of-motherboard-that-require-shorting-pin-a1-b17-for-pci-e-1x-to-work-36061)

2. can i mix together (5xxx and 6xxx) or (5xxx and 7xxx) GPUs ?

3. and how well i can downclock the memory in 5970 (i dont know anything of 5xxx cards except they suck power and mines well Grin)

The HD6990s and HD7970s are my dream cards due to the sheer mining power.

eBay

Just search for PCI riser and you'll find all the risers you need.

Some are listed with free worldwide shipping:)

yea i found one in dealextreme with free shipping
http://www.dealextreme.com/p/pci-e-1x-to-16x-riser-card-extension-cable-15-5cm-length-100061

that should be work Smiley

Dealextreme have been slow on the shipping with those lately, i would probably check eBay first Sad

Be careful with the cheap stuff, some people get their cards/mobos ruined because of low quality risers

Seriously, go to cablesaurus, or I think there might even be a guy that makes them here on the forums.

Haha, wat. Cablesaurus is overprices a f@¤k. I'll bet you it's the excact same cables as commonly found on eBay for $2

Hence why you buy more expensive ones. Cheaper doesn't mean better.

Still willing to bet that the cablesaurus ones are the exact same as the $2 eBay ones

Doubt it, but you can ask. When dealing with $100s in high end computer hardware, I think that $8 for an extender isn't a problem if it is a higher quality.

Probably get one with the molex power as 7970's suck a lot of power. You might end up with a burnt MB if the power isn't enough.
