"NOW, We at mastercard are not completely uuum comfortable with the idear of cryptocurrency largely because they go against the whole principle we have established our business on which is moving to a world beyond cash....."

BTC is a world of cash and beyond cash. It is a network, and foundation of new monetary system.

Wow!

He doesn't even sound like he believes anything he's saying.

Agree.

You can see it on his face.

He really seems like he's telling a BIG FAT LIE
at 4:16 when he says "Why does somebody
need to be anonymous".

I like how unsuccessfully he stifled a laugh when referring to Mastercard's "greater transparency, and security, and simplicity". Cheesy

At least he makes his intentions plain at the end:

"I certainly don't want anybody mining technology or mining financial services away from my control."

Certainly.

I call BULLSHIT

Mastercards banks and other credit card companies established their company on the principles of Principal interest payments, huge transaction fees, membership fees, and any other fees they can scrounge up to fill their paper wallets with fiat and empty thier consumers paper wallets as quickly as possible.

What is the real problem Mastrcard has with Bitcoins

2008 Mastercard profit margin 59.9%
2013 Mastercard profit margin 36.5%

the Real problem Mastercard has with bitcoin is they stand to lose 4 Billion dollars a year of their consumers money they rake in profits from their fees, annual fees, transaction fees interest payments and any other fee thay can come up with.

It has nothing to do with Moving to a world beyond cash it has everything to do with mastercard execs moving to a world with NO CASH in their pockets anymore HAHAHA

Wow!

He doesn't even sound like he believes anything he's saying.

It's like his marketing firm wrote up a script, put him in front of a teleprompter, and said, "Here, read this."

On top of that, it is clear that the person that wrote that script put very little effort into understanding what they were writing about. Between the contradictions, the false statements, and the FUD I've seen less obvious trolls here at bitcointalk.
He's being groomed for a high level position at Goldman Sachs. This is their hazing ritual.

The guy fails to come up with a single new idea. Everything he says has already been told years ago, and that hasn't stopped BTC from growing.

This isn't a surprise at all, MasterCard just want to be the only player on the market.

Bitcoin is gaining popularity as payment solution, and MasterCard knows that.

Scary thought if they consider what will happen to MasterCard if Bitcoin's global adoption really takes off.
