At the Citi Internet, Media & Telecommunications conference, Netflix chief financial officer David Wells expressed his optimism towards Bitcoin, and how it is shaping to become the global currency of most major industries.
Yes, bitcoin really could be a global currency for it will be the medium of all fiat currency in exchange of goods and products. Having bitcoin the business transactions all over the world become easier without having those banks or the need to the conversion of money from a different currency to another currency. As we all know that we have different kind of currency here all over the world and it has too different values depending on the country where one lives. Bitcoin could make it all comfortable for a user to do business if only it will be adapted all over the world.

Well, everyone should "consider" bitcoin, heck stupid Valve should go back to accepting bitcoin on Steam, without the foolishness of trusting bitpay but rather using btcpay (or whatever the open source alternative was called) themselves.

I think this is also because of the people actually not paying.

There are tons of videos in YouTube about getting any games you want in steam, I mean anything for FREE. That is through the use of paying Bitcoin, I guess we could also call it taking advantage of it. I also love when they accepted Bitcoin but when they changed rheir mind, I can't actually buy games in Steam easily.

I hope they really reconsider.

Why has a six and a half year old thread based on a rumour from a creepy clown been bumped?

I think by now we've had enough time to figure out that it didn't happen.

Nah, he is just another permabull. Bitcoin is great, but there is no need to make weird predictions. Unless he is taking into account a possible USD collapse, in which case those large numbers could be easily achieved.

If the USD loses a half of its value overnight, Bitcoin jumps from 12k into 24k. Doesn't mean bitcoin went up, just the USD went down. Americans are yet to experience this, i wonder when will they? Sure they have some little inflation, but its been so small they almost don't notice it unless they compare prices from decades ago.

If they knew how it is with say, the Venezuelan bolivar, they wouldn't hesitate to protect their wealth by moving into bitcoin asap before its too late. But that's the sad history of all inflation events, a LOT of people will lose their hard earned savings...

Never trust fiat, never trust your gov or your banks to keep it healthy; they can ruin it and that's the problem. Only Bitcoin removes them that power.

I don't think Netflix will consider this anytime sooner because of billing and auto renewals. They'd rather want to bill you automatically from your credit because they know it's impossible to that with bitcoin.

So, the statement didn't come officially from Netflix? But from Max Keiser? Is he officially the ambassador or representative of Netflix? How can we trust such rumour if it didn't come from the official? Well, whatever the rumour, I don't care about it. If it is stated y Netflix officially, I will trust it. But if it is a rumour, I think that we do not need to take a big hope here.
Actually, whenever there is some new parties concerning and considering BTC or other cryptocurrencies as one of the payment methods, we can feel so relieved because it means that BTC and crypto are accepted by many more parties. That is why if it really happens, the value of BTC may be increasing also. moreover, many people will know BTC than previously.

Even though I don't believe in the Max Keizer rumors, it is better if Netflix is one of the biggest streaming platforms
in the world considering accepting payments with Bitcoin. Because not everyone has Bank accounts or e-currency.
If Netflix wants to get a wide audience, it must have the courage to make a breakthrough by accepting Bitcoin for
payment options.

That will be amazing and really expose bitcoin to a wide number of users. Sometimes we tend to believe that most people know about bitcoin but it will surprise you to know that they don't. I had a good friend of mine who has completed the tertiary institution and has no clue about what cryptocurrencies are or even heard of them lol. Can you imagine this?

Net effect is they would get some extra customers that wouldn't be able to pay otherwise.

This tweet was made 6 years ago  Shocked and yet no where we see Netflix going mad adopting BTC as their method of payment, QR code or not. I'm leaning towards believing this was a rumour in the hope of a new uptrend, maybe  Huh

Clearly, Max Keiser knows a lot but the reality is different and even big influencers like him can't always be taken seriously.

Just curious. But what's going on with Keiser? I remember that I saw him by first time on his RT's regular show some years ago.

I didn't took Bitcoin seriously and he's the one who awaked me the interest on the matter. At first I thought he was a kind of clown (first impression), but gradually I was taking him more seriously specially over the years when his 'predictions' have been kind of becoming facts. Fiat money, Cantillion effect, Gold raising, etc. Ok, nowadays he's saying Bitcoin can raise to 300K, 400K, 500K,... hard to believe, but who knows anyway. Who could believe Bitcoin would be at 11K when it was born?

I see that Keiser is not well seen on this community. Called him troll! I won't stand up for Keiser, sure he can take care by himself. I just would like to understand why is he so impopullar. Specially when he has been part and is shareholder of strong Bitcoin companies, Exchanges and initiatives. I thought he would be loved on this community, call me naive... But it's kind of shocking for me this reaction.

Netflix will be kept on updating regularly, with the privacy policy , But still, the people getting free premium Netflix account.

Free trial you mean? There is no free trial available here in our area and it was already remove or done for they had already get high traffic of consumers here in our place. Besides, netflix is common here already and most users are satisfied of their service and products available. Regarding with privacy, netflix does not require to do KYC as long as you pay the amount needed to get an account j  netflix.  So.I guess there is really no issue with privacy with netflix. Anyone can access it but to those young ones of course it is the parent that should always watch on their activities.

If you don't accept bitcoin, you are simply saying no to an additional source of income.

There is people in countries without access to USD, much less electronic means of transferring them; or people without bank accounts, or without credit. Everyone can use bitcoin anywhere, but not everyone can use the $ or € electronically.

Recurring payments may be an issue, but likely they could just offer block membership times. 3 months, 6 months, 1 year.

Bitcoin is flying at the minute. Wonder if this has anything to do with it?

Buy on rumor, sell on fact.

If any major company would be capable of accepting Bitcoin in the future I would believe it would be Netflix.  I don't think recurring payment would be a concern, at least to begin with.  My guess is they would offer it on a per year basis.  Pay one year upfront for a slightly discounted rate off the monthly rate.
