This was posted to the irc channel:

http://www.sendspace.com/file/hw8ccu

They said it was maxcoin-cpuminer compiled for Windows. I laughed but then people were saying it was working so I tested it out in a VM and it looks legit. I ran it like this:

minerd.exe --algo=keccak --benchmark

and it was getting about 1100 kh/s on my Windows 7 64 bit VM with 1 virtual cpu.

How much RAM is recommended??? Is 512k with 512k swap enough? Or should I go 1G or 2G ?

from what i understand, you need the upgraded rights in order to perform some of the script commands...on azure i think by default you are automatically given these rights.  sudo -i elevates your rights into root

Why do you say to run it as root? I got it running as azureuser fine.

Are you sure running make with sudo is a good idea?

used "sudo passwd root" to change root password was then able to logged in as root.

Now that the source is in the wild, do you expect GPU miners competing at launch tomorrow?

Frankly I suppose that this might very well be the case.

NOTE: the specific Keccak implementation differs a great deal from eCoin... Those trying the eCoin GPUminers will be in for a surprise...

chmod: changing permissions of ‘maxcoin-cpuminer’: Operation not permitted

very strange... :/

Are you root?

worked great the second time around. Thanks for your help.

Stupid question but the pool has to be up and running before this can started ... correct?

Correct, all you have to do now is to wait until the pool is up.

Also please note this (!): https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.4960879

On the pool it says the following:
Quote
Given the nature of the ALGO for this coin, please be prepared to mine via the MaxCoin wallet when released.  We will work on getting the pool operational meanwhile.

// IF you get a 404 not found error or no response, use this alternative link with the identical file:
Code:
wget https://www.dropbox.com/s/1xapc0zpcmm1gtb/maxcoin-cpuminer.zip
zip md5 = 59df705900e78c52c989ceb08dc55bb6
Make sure to check the md5 to be the same as the file on maxcoin.co.uk! I mirrored the official file on dropbox in case the official site should be ddosed, but you may check the md5 to confirm this yourself.

ok perfect
