Do they do anything to promote awareness about the fact that they accept Bitcoin to the average customer? Although I'm not sure how practical that really is...

Server: We accept cash, all major credit cards, and Bitcoin.
Customer: What's Bitcoin?
Server: Bitcoin is a decentralized peer-to-peer crytographically-based currency and payment system....

Server: ....and that's why most experts think that if significant vulnerabilities are discovered in SHA256 that they'll... I'm sorry, can we put a pin in this conversation? I've gotta check on a few other tables.

On the other hand, it might be nice to have a way to let customers know about it and have a pamphlet that they could take with a brief intro and some resources for additional information.

Ok, that was very funny.

They are in Downtown Orlando.  About 20 miles north of the Disney area.

A bitcoin logo on the menu, or hostess stand, will let people know bitcoins are accepted, without the general population that has no idea, or ever will use them, knowing what the picture is, or giving a second glance. BTC users will know what it is, and question it, or obviously know they're accepted.

Server: We accept cash, all major credit cards, and Bitcoin.

Server: Bitcoin is an alternative to cash some people prefer using. It's digital in a way where you can store it on your phone with a password instead of keeping wads of cash on you. Just scan a code using your smartphone, hit "send" and you've paid your balance. You can read more about it at bitcoin.org if you're really interested.

Yeah, that's actually a pretty reasonable answer.  But it's one that downplays Bitcoin's revolutionary nature - it makes it sound more like a PayPal alternative and doesn't mention the fact that it's not using dollars. Of course, that's probably an appropriate tack for these particular circumstances.  I was obviously mostly making a joke, but I certainly had a lot of questions when I first learned about Bitcoin.  (I don't think I slept for the first 36 hours because I was reading everything I could find on the subject.) And when I'm "proselytizing" to folks I know (or after a few drinks, random strangers), let's just say that I can talk for a while about why Bitcoin is the future of money.

So how are they outfitted ... is that just a wi-fi enabled mobile (w/ no mobile provider costs) owned by the restaurant?  Or ...?

They do have free wi-fi in the bar.  They just use their personal phones, which they are allowed to carry around while working, and they have the Whiskey Dicks BitPay Mobile Checkout page bookmarked.

Right now it is usually just the bitcoin regulars that pay this way.  The owner Jay, the manager Whitney, and our server Crystal (in the video) are trained on it.  They haven't trained all their staff yet, but eventually they will.  Orlando receives many international visitors, so it will be good for bitcoiners from Europe to come check it out if they are visiting.
