I am meaning the forum to prevent scammers do scams or selling hacked accounts, stolen, digital and/or physical goods and anything that you may consider as a crime and the forum has some bugs. In fact you may have some recommendations for forum admin to make here a better place.

The rules should be revised to prevent these and since scams aren't moderated, the forum will always lack security. Escrow is an option to be safe but newbies can easily be trapped if they use an unknown escrow another member recommends and cases have been reported here.

The main issue is that people here prefer buying stolen goods as the price is cheap (15% the face value) and when there are such customers, how can these good be avoided from being sold here?

Gambling too needs to be stopped and the ability to create multiple accounts which increases the chances of getting scammed. Moderators manually verifying accounts or having a newbie jail (which existed earlier) can be an option too.

Having a mobile verification feature is being considered by the forum admin but only for the new forum that's going to be launched and not for this forum. I guess the new forum will be much more safer than this one.  Smiley
Those newbies should have some common sense to realise that they can be stolen goods. They can't be moderated as proofs are needed.

Multiple accounts is fine IMO. No one who is really trusted would be selling their account IMO. And if it happens, the password would definitely be changed and if the account starts being active after a period of inactiveness, members would rise a red flag. Gambling is allowed in certain countries and the forum isn't opening a gambling site so its alright.

The recent hack was caused by social engineering. No amount of protection could have 100% prevented this unless it is hosted by theymos himself.

So something like phone verification is not necessary to  prevent crime and fraud and scamming?
you mean phone verification for entering or signing up in this forum?!
it is not a good idea. since many people wouldn't like it and no one is willing to give out much personal information to public.
besides whatever they do, scammers always find a way to scam, so you have to be careful yourself.
Yes, that may not be that much well but it was just a recommendation, maybe using escrow is the best.
well, as i said people are not willing to give out their phone number to any website. as the recent hack proved, it is susceptible to hack and email addresses was leaked, think what would have happened if it were phone numbers.
using escrow is the best way you can find to secure your trades with someone you dont know.

No mechanism will stop a crime on the forum...

Yeah, people are getting smarter more and more

what mechanisms should here have to prevent criminal actions?

If you mean like terorism or drugs seller, then it would be a tough being prevent since using bitcoin as transaction is fully anonymous.
Some country is not making any law for using bitcoin, so that hole can be used from crime

trade with only trusted members

use always escrow

use common sense

don't trade with guy that want to use paypal/skrill/other paypal clone

try to divide your amount in small fractions when dealing with someone, in the worst case you will lose a tiny portion

don't download shitty stuff from random newbie user

i think there are more....

If you are using escrow, you wouldnt need to trade only with ''trusted'' members, just because someone has green trust doesnt mean he cant scam you, there has been cases so dont be so sure just because you are trading with a trusted member.

yeah i know about this, there are hackers that has hacked some high trusted account just to scam other users, especially with the recent forum downtime, all those point that i've listed are mutually exclusive

Well you are right thats why people should always ask for a signed message from the escrow and always verify it, that way you are 99.9% sure that you wont get scammed, the only possibility would be the escrow to scam you which shouldnt happen, i have never seen it happen.

So you think there is no need for improving and forum is perfect and only people must take care of their posts.

More precisely is the action, must be careful to take an action. Also don't easy to believe to someone. Essentially back to ourselves each.
The forum is need stable security which can fight the hacker.

Common sense. It's impossible to eradicate crime but you can protect yourself quite well by not doing stupid things. Make sure your coins are safe and backed up and if you have to trade or exchange use reliable sites or people. If you trade with people make sure you used a trusted escrow.

No mechanism will stop a crime on the forum, but it could be reduced if some things are acknowledged as a crime and then moderated accordingly. Post or threads could be deleted, if it is deemed to be against the rules of the forum.
To make these rules or to acknowledge something as a crime, it should be against the laws of all people from every country around the world. Ponzi's for example, is not against the laws of some countries.
The popular believe, is to outlaw anything that may be against the laws of the country where the forum is hosted.
The forum owner are held responsible for everything that is done on his or her forum.
This is very difficult to prosecute, if the forum is hosted in a neutral area, but managed or owned by someone from another nationality.

simple answer is to do some research before doing any trade or paying other people.
there is always going to be scammers everywhere, the buyer should take the necessary precautions.

for example, in buying accounts; you should buy from someone who is trusted, use escrow, ask for sign message before paying, ...

about buying digital goods, most newbie selling digital goods are scams. for example you buy a digital good like a game or licence to a program, after a while it deactivates because it was bought with a stolen credit card.

This forum is worldwide, crimes in one place are not crimes in another placed. Usually people report to the meta forum if there are problems.  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=24.0
