Everyone on this forum have heard about merit by now. It's a necessary evil which no one can avoid. If anyone here claims otherwise then that person is telling lies and deceiving himself.  To gain a new rank merit is required and anyone who is due and hasn't ranked up should've asked why. Then merit necessity comes in.

Hi there!! Do you heard about merit??  What's it for??

Merit system implemented almost a month ago,but you just now heared about that.I shows that how much you are lazy and we can predict the post quality of you from this question itslef.

Merit is like an point which will be awarded if you have high quality posts and the posts which gives good contribution to that discussion,so the people may merit you if they feel that is useful to others, and it is for rank up also, you need denifite amount of merit to rank up with the old combination of activity.

Merit is one of the component to get our bitcointalk rank up besides activity points. You can earn merit by posting a good/quality comment in the bitcoin forum thread. If people like your comment/posting and they think that you deserve to earn it then they will give you the merit. We also can give merit to others without decrease our merit points. Merit is also using to minimize the fake/spammer bitcointalk account.

Merit are used for you to rank up, many said that you can get merit from others if you have a quality post. Is there's a chance you got ranked up without merit requirement?

It's original objectives are to reduce or eliminate spammers and account farmers; then build up strong, clean and informative forum for bitcoiners and altcoiners.

Hi there!! Do you heard about merit??  What's it for??

Merit is for people who are assets to the community. They start useful threads, they know how to read, and they aren't too lazy to read threads, and who help other members with their replies.

The ignore button is for people like you who don't contribute anything of value, clutter the boards, and are too lazy to correct their typing errors.

Merit is a pre requisite to rank up to every level, except below:
From brand new to newbie to junior member, no merit requirement is needed.

However, for you to rank up from junior member to member, you must earn 10 merits and that means you must always  have meaningful and relevant posts. I know it's quite difficult but this merit system will be justifiable in the end. I list down some pros and cons of merit system for each of us to understand.

PROs:
1. A member will be motivated to have meaningful post which is relevant to the topic, therefore will lessen shitpost or nonsense reply. It will lessen spammer.
2. A member will focus more on the topic, will be forced to research about it, and will be more knowledgeable regarding the issue itself.

CONs:
1. It will be more difficult to rank up as it will take longer than before.
Most of the members who are currently in junior level prior to the merit system will stay in that level for maybe quite sometime unless they will earn 10 merits to reach member level and member rank will take a long time to reach full member unless they earn 100 merits and so on.

Yes, i heard it, and merit is requirements to rank up. Activies and Merit are the requirements now to rank up. They do this system to prevent spammers to this forum and I agree with that, but it is hard to rank up now because of this merit sytem

Hi there!! Do you heard about merit??  What's it for??

Merit is really hot topic bro and it is very important these to earn them of you want to stay at the top or whether you want to earn higher ranks etc. I mean if you are here to earn ranks then I'm sure you will have to focus more and more on the merit system. To earn the merits you have to be very quality poster otherwise you won't sustain here for long time.

However, merit system should not be taken for granted and must work for it very hard. The merit system made so that people can reward each other for posting and helping in quality ways. If people around here love your posts then they can spend merits on you which are allotted to you. You can check your merits in your profile by clicking the merits.

The rest thing can be known from the thread provided by appleyard.
