Seriously guys?
I'm not asking you for merits for fuck sake.
Is this thread a big deal to you? you've given me so much attention here. lol
My response is not meant to be a personal attack to you but a chance to weigh on the growing trend of these types of threads. From my personal view they are not needed and the very least we could do is concentrate our efforts on existing threads instead of creating new ones.

I'm not accusing you of asking for merits and my response should be considered as talking generally. The psychology behind these threads is that people will see this as a charitable cause and get behind it by distributing merits this can be evidenced by the pre existing threads out there. Almost all threads of this nature have received merit. I'm not saying that these threads aren't effective because I'm sure they are to those that have sMerit that they want to give out but simply don't have the time to scour the whole forum. However this is where pre existing threads come into play and concentrating our efforts instead.

You can just ask admins if i have an alts in this thread. lol
i'm pretty sure they'll know it.
1. The admins have better things to do

2. Its so easy to hide your IP address

That’s not their point.

You could create multiple accounts and post here asking for a “review”, then you (your original account that has sMerits) could merit them and tell that you are just helping out a few Newbies.

Is that what you are doing? I don’t know. But that’s a possibility.

Yay a chance to use my reference thread. I remember there used to be a lot of them popping up all over the place. I even ran one for a while, but stopped receiving submissions that met my requirements. OP already mentioned they were "lazy" so it makes sense to me they'd like to be served posts. I'm not disagreeing that a lot of the threads have self serving motivations but even so where's the problem, if worthy posts receive some merit.

If your concern is alt's, it would be a stupid way to try and abuse the merit system. You are essentially holding a sign up saying "Watch me give these people merit", given the amount of people who hunt alt's and account traders that's risky. I have merit from time to time so will watch this thread if OP runs out and maybe hand some out.
My concern is not alts as I don't think this would be a very effective way of distributing merits. If posts are good then they probably warrant merits anyway if they are not then it'll be easy to identify alt accounts. My main concern is that these threads generate unnecessary bumping hiding content that others might want to read. Especially when these types of topics are looking for said material. Not everyone likes to link their content because it just feels wrong to do so. I wouldn't link any of my posts to receive merit. If someone thinks that I deserve merit than they can come to that conclusion without me ramming it down their throats.

The thing is this is like exchanging merit. The OP creates a new thread hoping that they'll receive merit and further inflate their merit then they'll topics that they could of merited anyway especially since they already have the sMerit to do so. Especially when these topics exist everywhere there are currently a few being run all over the forum and recieving submissions. Why can't existing members stop creating new threads and just contribute to the existing ones that are still active?

There is a thread over in the reputation sub forum which is being run by a default trust member for the exact same end goal. Meriting those that deserve it. Wouldn't it be better to contribute to a active already existing thread than creating a new one?

I agree with the others. Merit giveaways are likely a disguise to be merited themselves because people see this as a good act. Whatever your intentions were by opening this thread I suggest closing it. There are plenty of high quality posts around the forum and there are many threads on page 1 of each sub forum that deserve merit. I'm sure you can find some without having a flock of newbies come to you and post their links which aren't likely to be the pick of the bunch anyway.
I'm honestly don't believe on merit giveaways who wearing sigs because there are possibilities that they are giving merit to their own alts. they can use this as a reason if their alts found suspicious.

What is the reason for making this thread if you can find high quality post and give merit?

Edit: Look his alt matej451 he receives merit and also matej451 receive merit which is not deserved.

I also agree with the idea of (free) "reviewer" topics in general, for finding high-quality posts that went unnoticed. Barcode_ created one in the Chinese section, as well.

How about this one? I wrote it up to help people who may read too much into a single news piece or source, and extrapolating prices based on that.

I have sMerit to spare for you guys who think you helped our fellow members with your answers, tutorials and so on.
I don't have much so i can only give 1 Merit per user but as long as i don't run out of sMerit to give, I'll give it.

There are no other rules except your post should be in "English" as i'm too lazy to use translator.

Post your link here that you deemed worthy of Merit and i'll look into it.
