This is one of the most confusing aspects for me when it comes to wallets in general and why I go with cold storage and don't mess around with any of my active addresses.  Would much rather make a mistake on non-used address than the other, that could be catastrophic.

You could always stake a separate address for things like proving your identity and never use it for transacting in Bitcoin if you are concerned with your ability to manage your keys.  Never sharing your private key is a pretty simple rule though.  I would make sure the compromised key is no longer in your wallet to avoid any potential catastrophes if I were you.

Hello! Why didn't I get the merit? Did I do something wrong?

I signed! I learn fast!

Bold of you to expect someone to merit your post where you call them names in it.

Ya.  I'm certain it's totally not an alt of someone I called a moron yesterday as someone with that many merits would never utilize alt accounts or stoop to childish attacks. Cheesy

Just do as I do and hit the ignore button.  This thread has turned into a gold mine of which users to ignore and even who to suspect is using alts to cheat signature campaigns if you do a little digging.

This is exactly why as a newbie I am so confused!!!!!

I thought one is supposed to keep their "private key" secret!

Guys can someone tell me which is best software to do this please ? I want to try

Yes so would I but also need direction to more clarification of addresses.

Simple please.

I have spent several hours a day for 3 weeks to understand how bitcoin works and always get confusing and even contradictory info.

It is aggravating to keep hearing that it is easy, but the computer geeks do not understand that it is not easy for average people with no computer experience or tech know-how.

I finally got an account at Coinbase and even transferred BTC to Bittrex by following step by step (x20) instructions but I really don't know HOW I did it!
They say address but I think I have a private address and a public address and a private key?

Which is which? I know I should keep my private key (or is it keys) hidden but I'm not sure which set of numbers that is

If nobody can answer these questions, should I ask them separately? Or is there a straightforward explanation somewhere?
     I can't find a clear answer
I am supposed to put this in my Ledger wallet I think BUT:

I'm so scared of doing anything with my Bitcoin on my 2 accounts because I keep seeing
"make sure this is the right number or your money will be lost"
AS in LOST FOREVER
