It's a great Merit idea to stimulate to give Merit, quality posts. After all, there is no sense, just to keep merits.
Seriously? Did you even read the posts of others explaining why this is a bad idea before you coming up with the post of your own? Can you explain why this is a good idea? Because judging for the nonexistent merits you have accumulated you are just agreeing to his post because it promotes the distribution of merits which by the way does not also mean it promotes high quality posts well in fact it only promotes abuse of the system.

IDEA: Just like what I've said a while ago there are some peoples who're holding their merits and the result some of the participants who're really qualified but didn't get any merit. So what if the user who has a sMerit shares a merit and in exchange he/she will receive a 0.5 Merit for each Merits he sent or 0.5 Merit for each sent no matter how many sMerit he/she is going to share, In this way people will be forced to find a constructive poster and will not going to hold back their sMerits.

Just like what I've said this is just an Idea, I want to hear your thoughts. Thank you Everyone.

It will become a farmer party if the forum decides to introduce that.
Nop, this is far from being a solution, I'm afraid. Sadly, there are many users on the forum farming accounts, so it will make their lives far easier. The merit system can be unperfect, but, still, there is a number of users concern about spreading their smerit in good new posters. Your idea does not give a solution for the real problem here: there are too many spammers, useless posters and it is difficult to find out some good newbie that deserve merit for him/her posting activity.
A good idea regarding the merit system should involve that mean problem. And, yet, I can't think about a solution to that.

Forcing members to give off sMerits is not that helpful instead it will be a total waste of good award to those who deserve it better. I think that the Merit system is designed with freedom and a chance for others to relate themselves to what others think. Being a merit source is also a matter of choice by the higher ranks. If they wanted to be one of the sources, they see to it that they will be qualified to judge other's posts. given that they award merits, it is now an opportunity for those who have been awarded to criticize a post as if it is helpful and meaningful. Yet it is still their own decision.
Sending merits is encouraged, not forcefully required.

If that system is implemented it will promote two things:
  • Merit Selling -  with both receivig .5 sMerits to give each time they are giving they can essentially build up merits to be sold to other members.
  • Account Farming - Account Farmers can do the same thing instead they are more focused on ranking up their alt accounts. And with the high number of accounts they are ranking up DT members won't trace each and every single farm account.
With basically losing nothing they won't spend their merits wisely instead they are like merit sources that generate each time they give and receive merit which is really a bad modification for the merit system now. The abuse is the system will be more prevalent.

Sorry, but it seems to me that experienced users who have many merits do not read the messages of not experienced users, the title of junior participant, because their knowledge is much greater. To read the messages of a young user is not interesting, even if they tried very hard  Wink

still i have no merits, with that strategy it will be wasted. many of users are constructive posers but in the end no merits gain. merit system is just call a competition only the best posers will gain merits.

Don't worry about getting merit. Concentrate on making a really brilliant post.
Two sentence posts are not likely to get merit.

1) Come up with a brilliant idea.
2) Spend a day or more researching it. Make sure it is totally unique and not copied from somewhere else.
Link to as many good sources as you can. (Will help future researchers)
3) Write it up and get someone to proof read it. Use a spell checker.
If your English is not great ask someone to help with the grammar or post it in your own language.

4) Constantly update and maintain your post so it becomes a masterpiece that everyone wants to read.
Also so it is something that you can be proud of. Ask for community input so you can correct and update.

It is better to have one brilliant post than 1000 mediocre ones.

Most people just don't bother sending merit to others.

Because until now the most demanded feature still isn't implemented: Make the +Merit button automatically give 1 merit. Then another button for a custom amount.

We should know now in the year 2018 how lazy people are, myself included. You read a good post, you click a single button that takes half a second, and you keep reading the other posts. This would do wonders for merit system adoption and would take 5 minutes to code.

I've been here in the forum for the past few months and I've seen people who just hold their merits, Well in my case I haven't seen yet a newbie-member who post a high quality/Knowledgeable posts hehe. But any ways I will just going to continue with my proposal.

This idea just came up to my mind, I know there are many people here will going to judge, criticize or what but no matter what I just want to share my thoughts here and want to hear all your comments probably the pros and cons of this idea.

IDEA: Just like what I've said a while ago there are some peoples who're holding their merits and the result some of the participants who're really qualified but didn't get any merit. Buddy, it looks like you are also  holding  your smerits. Same is somewhat true for me.

But I have some reasons for not sending them.

1.)  I was thinking to award Merits to some worthy newbie and  Junior Members only, but the way forum scrutinize every Merit, I dropped the idea.
(Because if I give Merit to user X   and by chance that user X gave me a back merit or he is found scammer/alt account /or shit poster, then it will put my account in danger. I thought of awarding them in some kind of fair challenge but as of now it is in hold.)

Edit: Did you checked the mathematical validity of your idea?. If I go through your idea, If I have 4 smerits, I will send 4 Merit to user X, As I am sending 4  merit, I will get +2 merit (4 * .5) and (1 sMerit ,  as virtue of receiving of 2 merit).  Now Mr. X has +4 merit and +2 smerit, if this Mr. X  give back 2 Merit, Now I will have +2 Merit more (In total +4 Merit) and  1 sMerit more (In total 2 smerit)

Now 4 smerits (For me) converted to +4 Merit and 2 smerits.
For X  ,it converted to   +4 merit +1 Merit (by giving back merits)  + .5 smerits.

In short, 4 sMerits will generate 9 Merits and 2.5 sMerits , This system will cause very high inflation of Merits and cannot be recommended at all.

Then you were just giving Merit famers the opportunity to farm more merits easily. Not all Merit senders has a good intention of sharing their merits. Some of them are just sharing or trading their merits in exchange of sending back merits or money which is wrong. If this idea was implemented, then the grin in the faces of those Merit abusers will just get bigger, and will definitely reach their ears.

Merits that has been kept by other members will decay in the future and it's up to them if they're gonna give it or not. Members who keep all of their sMerit won't benefit them. Don't force them if they really don't want to use their sMerits, let them to intentionally give it.

Giving merits to good posts should be treated as one of the ways to give back to this awesome community.

This is the least you can do, hardly takes few seconds.

I totally agree with the problem and the solution that you try to offer it sounds interesting to me. I just want to contribute to your idea, the deadline or time limit for sMerit must be transparent so the people who have sMerit will send it immediately. I want to give my own idea too, why not the admin or moderator give the sMerit to someone who they trust or some member who qualified? Why do we need to earn merit first to get the sMerit? For example, I don't have sMerit but I found something useful and there are no people who send a little merit for it, it makes me sad because I can't do anything to appreciate him.

Instead of rewarding users for sending merits, deleting the merits if not used for some time is better idea. Sharing merits is not something that takes a lot of time. Admin did wrote the message in merit history page that they can delete merits in future to avoid hoarding but this was not implemented in reality here.

Again, why force people to find deserving people to merit? I think if you really found a really deserving post, you wouldn't think twice in giving that person a merit.

Giving a merit is personal thing and if a user just holding it I'm OK with that. Only the user himself has rights for his merits and I do not want to push anyone.

I guess this is not a great idea because it would defeat the main purpose of merit itself, to be a quality poster of this forum, to help others, and other positive acts that is related to this forum. By getting merit when we send sMerit, it will increase the way of merit farmer to get merit and of course people would spam it a lot.

The best idea for getting merit is to increase your knowledge about crypto and help others.

Trust me I rarely bother to send merits to anybody here. Everyone is just another bounty spammer or a blatant shitposter. Then again we have some good quality posters and they are worth recognizing in the mob. But that is 0.0001% of the total number of members here.

Holding of merit can be avoided if we transferred one month old sMerit to the moderator account of that section.
No.

Quote
it may force the people to give sMerit to the quality post.
Yeah if you noobs keep up with this attitude then get ready to enter the "Ignore" lists of every merit source.

I like the idea, but it seems to me that the moderators will not go for it, although I think that for example, leaving at list 0.25 merit would be very useful, I somewhere heard the proposal of making a line with sMerit near the line of Merit, I think it would also stimulate people to send the merit.

Yes, this is not the best idea. Such approach gives the opportunity for merit farmers and doesn't affect on people who dislike give merits. I think you nobody appreciate this offering. Sorry, it's only my opinion, nothing more.
